Schools and Crime Stoppers Working to Stop Truancy

 

 Crime Stoppers

Mansfield ISD has joined forces with Arlington ISD and the Arlington Police Department to receive truancy tips from the community through a new area program that pays a $40 reward to citizens for information.

 

The program encourages anonymous tipsters to contact Crime Stoppers with information about truant student(s) (Learn more).

 

Students Show Respect for Fallen Soldier

 

 Dietrich

On the morning of September 9, Mansfield ISD students paid respect to SPC Jesse W. Dietrich, a 20-year-old US Army 19th Mountain SPC, and former Mansfield ISD student.

 

Dietrich was killed in action on August 25, 2011 in Kandahar during battle with enemy forces (Read more).

Register: 

The deadline for voter registration is approaching (Tuesday, October 11, 2011). Please register online today to be eligible to vote in the November 8 election.

 

Early Voting:
Registered voters who live within Mansfield ISD may vote early at one of the designated locations.  

 

There will be eight Tarrant County Temporary Branch Early Voting Locations within Mansfield ISD:

Mansfield ISD Students Among National Merit Semifinalists
 
We wish to congratulate three Mansfield ISD students who are among the list of Semifinalists for the 57th annual National Merit Scholarship Program: Mateusz P. Dyl (Summit HS), James R. McMasters (Legacy HS), Rayna L. Smith (Mansfield HS). Congratulations!

 

Student Makes the Most of Leadership Position

 

Senior Jordan Robinson has more on his mind than college, prom and graduation. As the President of the Texas Association of DECA, he leads over 10,675 members and represents the third largest association within the national DECA organization (Read blog post). 

Summit Student Wins National Martial Arts Championship

 

Congratulations to Ricardo Moreno, who won the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Taekwondo Junior National Championship this summer.

Two MISD Schools Commended by Foundation for Music Education

T.A. Howard Middle School and Timberview High School were named Commended Winners in the Foundation for Music Education 2011 National Wind Band Honors. Great job! See complete list of winners here.

 

MISD remains among top-rated districts in FAST report

FAST Report Last week, the Texas Comptroller's Office released the  Financial Allocation Study for Texas (FAST) report.

For the second year in a row, Mansfield ISD received a 4.5 out 5 star rating and and a "very low" (which is good) spending index according to the report.

The report grades districts on how well they spend money compared to student performance.
