The Mansfield ISD is pleased to recognize the 2011 graduating high school classes.

School Board Runoff Election
School Board
 There will be a runoff election for the Mansfield ISD School Board Places 6 and 7, Saturday, June 18, 2011.
The election for Place 6 will be between Danny Baas and Kenneth Chalk, and the election for Place 7 will be between Courtney Lackey Wilson and Pete Shryock. (Learn more.)

District Wellness Campaign Highlighted on CBS

Martha Reid Elementary Staff was recently featured by our local CBS affiliate for positive results from a friendly health competition among campuses thanks to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center's District-wide wellness campaign. (View the blog post and video.)

Calling All Volunteers
MISD 5th Annual Invitational Special Olympics Swim Meet
Come see athletes in our community shine! The event will take place July 23, 2011, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Our wonderful volunteers made last year's meet a success. Help make this year even better!
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Staging - Help direct athletes during competition
- Escorts - Help athletes get to the events
- Timers - Time events
- Awards - Help present awards to the athletes
Questions and answers:
- Q: What should I wear?
- A: Dress comfortable. Sneakers, t-shirts and shorts are great!
- Q: Can my child volunteer?
- A: 15 and older can volunteer by himself/herself; 8 - 14 must have a parent or guardian; 7 and younger will not be assigned a volunteer task, but are invited to be cheerleaders in the stands, while accompanied by a parent/guardian.
If you would like to volunteer, please e-mail Joan Hart by July 1.

Student Recognition Spotlight
Summit U.S. Army Scholar Athletes
Summit High School students Victoria Guerra and Alex Tran each received a U.S. Army Scholar Athlete Award on May 26, 2011. The students were nominated by the school counseling staff and received a medal and a certificate. ( View photos.)
Legacy French National Honor Students
Congratulations to the following students, who were inducted into the Mansfield Legacy High School's French National Honor Society: Matthew Donavan, Kaleigh Doyle, Kourtney Gerik, Ayesha Khan, Ryan Manns, Sarah Musselman, Carson Rahrig, Ben Ramsey, Josh Sanders, Emma Snow, Zaria Vick and Abby Zinecker.
MHS Theatre Students Win Buckley Awards
Musical theatre students from Mansfield High School won two prestigious Betty Lynn Buckley Awards for their production of Side Show. Congratulations to Kylie Arnold, who won Best Female Actor, and Blake Manns and William Willoughby, who achieved Best Lighting Design. Winners received a trophy and a $500 scholarship to the college of their choice. (Check out the announcement and blog post.)
2011 Star-Telegram Softball Super Teams
Congratulations to the following student athletes who were recently named to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Softball Super Teams:
- (SECOND TEAM) Infielder Briana Walker, 10th grade Legacy HS - The 5-5A offensive MVP finished with a .565 batting average, 33 runs scored and 26 stolen bases.
- (SECOND TEAM) Outfielder Wheeler Hill, 12th grade Mansfield HS - She was voted co-defensive MVP in District 5-5A.

Summer Office Hours: Modified summer hours began for MISD Administration this week and will continue through July. Offices will be open Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and closed on Fridays.
