Cyber Safety Awareness Week
During the week of May 16-20, Mansfield ISD Technology will be hosting the first MISD CyberSafety Awareness Week to provide a focus for students, teachers, parents and community about online safety and our students.

Feed the Kids for Summer
Common Ground Network

Created and administered by the staff and volunteers of the Common Ground Network, Feed the Kids for Summer is a program which assists struggling Mansfield ISD area families to meet their grocery needs during the summer break from school. (Learn more.)

MHS Athlete Wins State Tennis Title
Congrats to MHS junior Andrew Korinek on winning the UIL Class 5A boys tennis singles state title on Tuesday, May 10. (Read more.)
Asa Low Students Raise Pennies for Patients
The Student Council members of Asa Low Jr. Intermediate School sponsored a "Pennies for Patients" fundraiser over the course of two weeks in April. (Read the blog post.)
MISD Students Win National Merit Scholarships
Congratulations to Sooyeon Kim (Mansfield High School) and Paige N. Riley (Legacy High School)! These students were recently announced as winners of $2,500 National Merit Scholarships. (Read more.)
Timberview Girls Step Team Wins State
The Timberview High School girls step team, "Ladies of Sole," took home the 1st place trophy in the Girls Division at the Texas Step Team Association's State Competition, held in Houston on April 30. The team will represent Texas at the 2012 National Championship in Nashville, Tennessee. (See the photo.)
Ben Barber Student Selected for Prodigy Program Araceli Chavez, a senior at Legacy and part of the Ben Barber Health Science program, has been selected as one of 25 students in the DFW area to be in the Texas Health Resources (THR) Prodigy program. She will complete the Certified Nursing Assistant program at Ben Barber this semester and will begin training with THR in June.
Summit Photojournalism Students Create Multimedia Projects
The Summit Photojournalism students created multimedia projects showcasing what they love about Summit High School. The project was a grant called "Let's Hear It" awarded to the school by the Mansfield Education Foundation. (Read more.)
Legacy Art Students
Sixteen advanced art students from Legacy High School were selected into this year's art show at the internationally renowned Goss-Michael Foundation Gallery in downtown Dallas. The display is titled "Saturate," and is part of an annual student art contest. (Read more.)
MHS Athlete Wins Texas Player of the Year
Congratulations to MHS midfielder and SMU recruit Aaron Simmons, who was named the 2010 - 2011 Gatorate Texas boys soccer player of the year. The award recognizes athletic excellence, high standards of academic acheivement and exemplary character demonstration on and off the field. (Read more.) |

MISD in the News: Channel 11 recently filmed a story about the winners of the Principal's Fitness Challenge at Martha Reid Elementary. The story will air at the following times:
- Friday, May 13, at 5:00 p.m.
- Saturday, May 16, at 5:30 a.m.
- Monday, May 16, at 5:30 a.m.
- The story will also be available on the CBS website in the "Get
Healthy Texas" section.
Counselor of the Year: Congratulations to Lisa Fields, from Della Icenhower Intermediate School! Fields was received the 2011 North Texas Counselor's Association Elementary Counselor of the Year Award! (Read more.)
Community Blood Drive Results: 111 lives were saved by the units of blood donated at our Community Blood Drive on May 6!
Bell Schedule Meeting: Approximately 400 community members attended an informational meeting at Willie Pigg on May 5. Dr. Morrison discussed the updated bell schedules and attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions concerning the topic.
