Kindergarten Round-up
Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and New Student Registration
Tuesday, April 12, 2011
8:30 - 11:30 a.m. and
1:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Registration will take place on the student's home campus.

{NOTE: Nancy Neal Elementary students will register at the school
your child would currently attend. For example, if you reside in the attendance zone for M. J. Sheppard, but your child will attend Nancy Neal please register them at M. J. Sheppard.  To look up your current attendance zone, please click here.

The following students are eligible to register:

  • Pre-Kindergarten: 4 years old on or before September 1, 2011, whose primary language is not English, or whose parents qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program. For more information regarding the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program, call the Student Nutrition Department at (817) 299-6040.
  • Kindergarten: 5 years old on or before September 1, 2011.   
  • First-Fourth grade: Students not currently attending Mansfield ISD but living in the District.

What do I need to bring? Parent/Guardian must bring the following documents at the time of registration:

  1. Driver's License or Photo I.D.
  2. Copy of Birth Certificate
  3. Shot records (Immunizations) 
  4. Social Security card
  5. Proof of Residency (current electric, gas or water bill)
Please share this information with other families that you know will have new students in the District next year.

Frontier High School Application 

Frontier High School 2011 Application The deadline to apply for Frontier High School is Friday, March 11, 2011.   

 

Frontier High School is Mansfield's newest high school. It's innovative curriculum offers Juniors and Seniors the opportunity to follow one of seven career-oriented Programs of Study.  

 

Students have access to all core classes, dual enrollment TCC /Hill College courses, Tech Preparation articulated college credit programs, and online classes.

Infinite Campus Portal Page Updates
Student Information System

Infinite Campus login pageThe Infinite Campus parent/student portal has been updated.

Changes include:
  • Parents of multiple students are now able to view students one at a time. Navigating between students is made easy with the "Switch Students" button.
  • The Attendance tab has been enhanced to provide multiple options for viewing summaries of attendance data.
  • The Calendar has been modified so that all day events, attendance events and assignments appear in the appropriate cell.

If you haven't logged into your Infinite Campus account recently, and need a reminder of your login name or password, please go to this link: Problems Logging In? Enter the email address that receives Infinite Campus emails. The system will send you the information in an email.

Student Recognition Spotlight

Timberview High School Step Team

Back in February, the THS Ladies of Sole Step Team stepped with pride and precision at an area contest. Their efforts earned them 1st place in the girls division at District.  The Metroplex is a very competitive region. This success has them now going on to Austin on April 30th to compete for the state championship. These girls do their own choreography and direct their own rehearsals.

Business Professionals of America Regional and State

Clark Navidad of Summit High School and Mike Kojder of Legacy High School recently participated in the BPA State Competition in Ft. Worth, Texas.  They placed 3rd in C++ Programming and 3rd in JAVA Programming, respectively.  In addition, Mike Kojder placed 2nd in Financial Math and Analysis.  Both students are National Qualifiers as a result of their placement at the State BPA Competition and will represent Texas at the National BPA Competition in Washington, DC, May 4-8, 2011. German Student Awards

Congratulations: German students at Ben Barber competed at the "Winterfest" (regional German language competition), in Plano, mid-February. They performed very well. The group had nine students qualify for the state meet. (See the group photo.)

Latin Students Win Big at Area Contest

Twenty-nine Mansfield ISD Latin students competed at the Texas State Junior Classical League Latin Competition. The contest, held February 19 at Austin College, was the Texas State Junior Classical League (TSJCL) Area C Latin competition. (Read more.)

Health Occupations Students of America Students Advance to State

The following students advanced to State HOSA competition at the Area V Spring Leadership Conference in Copperas Cove late February:
  • Angela Tetteh-2nd place in Dental Spelling
  • Maaz Ghani - 3rd place Extemporaneous Speaking
  • Shazzil Hyatt - 3rd place Researched Persuasive Speaking
  • Catherine Do - 1st place Clinical Specialty
  • Elizabeth Distler and Stephanie Trujillo - 3rd place Career Health Display
  • Diana Pham and Cadeidre Carrington - State Qualifiers in the Kaiser Permanente Health Knowledge Exam
  • Vivian Nguyen- 4th place in Medical Math (alternate)
State HOSA will be held in Corpus Christi,  April 13-16.  Those who place in the top 3 at state will advance to National HOSA competition in June, in Anaheim, California.

District Spelling Bee

Congratulations to the winners of the Mansfield ISD Spelling Bee:

Summit Swim Team

Congratulations to the Summit High School boys swim team on winning the Regional Championship. (See the group photo.)

Miss Mansfield Outstanding Teen

Jessica Pilgrim, Timberview HS, won the Miss Mansfield Outstanding Teen 2011 last week and will be representing Mansfield in Miss Teen Texas contest this summer at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Summit Cheerleaders

Congratulations to the Summit High School competition cheerleading squad for winning the Spirit Celebration National Championship held March 5-6 at the University of North Texas. The squad also won top honors as Grand Champions for the overall highest score of the school division. Individual honors go to senior Kemi Ogunbanwo who won the "Wow" award for her jumps at the competition. The squad will compete again March 26 at Dallas Cowboy Stadium. (See the group photo.)

Legacy Art Student Awards

The Texas Art Educators Association's annual Visual Arts Scholastic Event was held last weekend at Timberview High School and Legacy High School art students did EXTREMELY well!  Legacy entered 93 artworks and won an unprecedented 86 Regional Superior Gold Medals and had 14 Area Superior Gold Medals advance to State.

BBCTA SkillsUSA Competition

Congratulations to the Mansfield ISD students from Ben Barber Carer Tech Academy on their recent accomplishments at the SkillsUSA District IV Leadership and Skills contest in Waco, TX February 25-26. (Read more.)

BBCTA Robotics Teams Sweep Texas

Mansfield ISD robotics swept Texas, taking the highest honors at the Alamo and SW Regional FIRST Robotics FTC (First Tech Challenge) contests in Texas. (Read the blog post.)

DECA Students Make History

After a record-breaking outcome at the Regional competition in January, 26 DECA students from Ben Barber Career Tech Academy advanced to the 2011 Texas DECA State Career Development Conference. (Read the blog post.)

Nancy Neal Elementary Attendance Zone:
The Nancy Neal Elementary Attendance Zone (Option A) was approved at the February 22 School Board Meeting.

Construction Website Launched: We have a new website dedicated to the various construction projects in the District. Check out the latest on Nancy Neal Elementary, High School #5, and the MISD Center for the Performing Arts.

Public Health Week Poster Contest: Tarrant County Public Health is issuing a challenge to area schoolchildren to produce artwork for the Public Health Week Poster Contest during National Public Health Week, April 4 - 10, 2011.  This year's theme is "Safety is No Accident: Live Injury-Free."  The poster contest is open to Tarrant County students in grades 1-8.
