District launching phone notification system
From the Blog

TelePArentWe are pleased to announce the selection and approval for something that quite frankly has been missing from our selection of communication tools: a district-wide phone notification system. We will soon be able to further our goal for more effective communication with families.

At the September 28, 2010 School Board meeting, Trustees approved the purchase of the Teleparent notification system. This approval paves the way for MISD to begin the implementation phase for what we believe will become a crucial communication asset. TeleParent is an automated system that can send a message by phone or email to parents in minutes.

TeleParent was selected by a district-wide committee after researching and reviewing a variety of notification systems available to meet our District's needs.

Read more about TeleParent benefits, usage and share you thoughts on the blog post.

Common Ground Network Holiday Assistance

Common Ground NetworkMany families in the Mansfield community struggle throughout the year to meet their basic needs. For some of these families, the additional burden of providing Christmas gifts for their children is beyond their ability. Through Common Ground Network, these families can apply for Christmas gift assistance. Common Ground coordinates the application process; which enables local churches, businesses and organizations to provide for these children.

The Common Ground Network is a group of churches and organizations who work together to help families in the Mansfield area. If you live in the Mansfield ISD and your family is not able to provide any Christmas gifts for your children, you may qualify for assistance through their Christmas program.

If your church or organization would like to participate as a sponsor for some of the children, please contact Pam Brady at Pamela.brady[at]ymail.com.

Also, if you know of a family who could benefit from this program, please download the Common Ground Christmas Assistance Flyer and share with them.

This information was originally posted on Your Mansfield ISD Blog.

Mansfield ISD is a partner with the Common Ground Network.

Tipps Elementary named to Business and Education Honor Roll

Mansfield ISD is proud to recognize Roberta Tipps Elementary for being named to the Texas Business & Education Coalition (TBEC) 2010 Honor Roll.

"The staff at Roberta Tipps is truly humbled to receive this honor for a third time," said principal, Elna Davis. "The teachers, parents, and students want to be pushed further each year as they continue down the path of life long learning. Our campus has become a community center that actively engages the community in learning activities ranging from a pre-K story/literacy hour all the way to chess club and destination imagination. All of the efforts of the community stakeholders involved in our campus events, hard work of the teachers, willingness of the students to learn and the consistent support of MISD combine in a special harmony that allow us to continue to add relevance and meaning to the lives of those we touch in the community."

TBEC identifies Honor Roll schools by analyzing three years of performance data for every public school in Texas. A TBEC Honor Roll school must have a high percentage of students meeting state standards on every TAKS test for three consecutive years.
