2010-11 Budget and Tax Rate Business Department
At the Tuesday, August 24 Mansfield ISD School Board Meeting,
trustees unanimously voted to approve the 2010-2011 Budget. The
$225,034,220 budget includes a 2 percent raise for all
employees. On the employee pay raise
Superintendent, Dr. Bob Morrison stated "We felt it was important and
appropriate during this tough economic time to show MISD employees we
support them and are proud of them. Our instructional aspirations
cannot be achieved without our dedicated staff." Tax Rate Notification:Mansfield ISD 2010-11 Adopted Tax Rate is $1.496: Maintenance &
Operations $1.04/Interest & Sinking $ .456 which is a 4.6 cents
increase from the $1.45 tax rate for the 2009-10 tax rate. "Since
average home values fell this year, the average district tax bill is
projected to be $36.12 lower for residents," said Lou Spiegel,

President's speech to students on September 14
 On Tuesday, September 14, 2010,
President Obama will once again address students in the United States
in a televised speech during the school day. According to news reports
and confirmation through the U.S. Department of Education, the
President will give a back-to-school speech to school children. The Mansfield ISD will partner with parents to meet our students' needs
with regard to President Obama's speech to school children. All campuses will show President Obama's speech live to students whose parents approve. Parents can give their students permission to view the speech live at school by signing a permission slip and returning it to the school by Friday, September 10, 2010. Read on... |
Two Principals receive state recognition
Two Mansfield ISD principals, Chuck Roe from Brockett Elementary and
David Wright from Legacy High School, were recently honored with
state-level recognitions. Chuck Roe, Principal at Brockett Elementary, was named
District 11 President-Elect for the Texas Elementary Principals and
Supervisors Association (TEPSA). David Wright, Principal at Legacy High School, was
named Region XI Outstanding High School Principal by the Texas

ActivClassroom Bus
 On August 24-25, the Mansfield ISD community had a unique opportunity
to get their hands on some of the technology upgrades being added to
classrooms this year. The District and Promethean, a global leader of
interactive classroom technology, invited the district community to
experience a 21st century learning environment aboard the ActivClassroom in Motion,
a 36-foot RV-styled bus that has been transformed into an interactive
classroom on wheels. School Board members, administrators, and some

Student receives national honor
Over the summer Nickolas Frederking (Timberview High School student in 2009-10 and now a Frontier High School junior) was recognized for superior academic achievement by the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).
According to a news release provided by Nick's family, the NSHSS recognizes academic excellence at the high school level and encourages
members to apply their unique talents, vision, and potential
for the betterment of themselves and the world.
Congratulations Nick for this honor.

Mansfield HS Grads Help Design Self-Sustaining House for Happy Hill Farm
Academy
Sam Moore and Jennifer Hay, Mansfield High School alumni, participated in the 2010 Next Generation Design Institute (NGDI) during the summer. NGDI is a
10-day internship program at Huckabee, Inc. Along with four other students, they
were challenged to design a conceptual self-sustaining house for Happy Hill
Farm Academy. Each received a $1,700 scholarship for participating and
