Pre-K, Kindergarten
and New Student Registration  Mansfield ISD will hold new student
registration for the 2010-2011 academic year
on April 21 from 8:30-11:30 AM
and 1:00 - 3:30 PM. The registration will take
place on the student's home campus.
The following students are eligible to
register: -
Pre-kindergarten - 4 years
old on or before
September 1, 2010, whose primary language
is
not English or whose parents qualify for
the
Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program.

$8.5
million approved for tech upgrades Board approves complete interactive
technology classroom upgrades
Mansfield ISD classroom teachers will soon have new instructional
technology tools to help improve student learning.
At the March 2010
School Board meeting, trustees approved a three-phase plan for
interactive technology classroom upgrades including mounted
data projectors, interactive white boards, and interactive tablets.

Cabaniss Elementary "Case Study for Reading"
 The MISD Education Foundation awarded Cabaniss Elementary a $1875 grant
entitled, "A Case Study for Reading." This grant provided a pillow case
for each kindergarten and 1st grade student with 40 relevant sight words
printed front and back. Sight words build confidence and are the

Night With prom less than three months away, there are many things that need

mention the person who goes to prom with you needs to look good, and
catch everyone's eye as well. For the ladies, there are many places that

Online - http://www.therideronline.comAP Testers Increase by 40 percent AP Testing will begin May 3 and
last through May 15, with 748 Legacy students taking 1,148 exams during
the two-week period. "I think it says a lot about the
caliber of the kids attempting these tests," AP US History teacher and
AP Coordinator Mandy Gent said. "It's a good representation of the
program we've got going, that we've got so many kids involved in the AP
program."
The district has opted to cover the
costs of tests for students currently enrolled in correlating classes,

it? The new offered online courses officially ended their first semester on
Jan. 15, unless special circumstances apply to the student.
"Mansfield ISD saw this as an opportunity to prepare students for the
next generation of online classes. So with regard to the actual hows I'm
not real sure, but the whys I am pretty sure why it was done and that
was to offer the kids something that was the way of the future so to
speak," academics principal Michael Hill said.

Teams from all over Texas gathered March 27 to compete for the ranks of
best performers in the state.
The MHS performance is called "The Awakening."
"The story is about someone in a coma who gets six minutes (the set time
for a routine) to live and get a life message across. Then he/she goes
back into the coma," said sophomore varsity member Janessa Jiner.
The touching back-story along with the state-recognized routine stole

Superintendent Star Awards - March
Every month during the school year
since November of 2000, a student from each of our elementary schools has been
selected to receive the Superintendent's Star Award for outstanding
citizenship.
These students were chosen by their school's
teachers and administrators based on the virtues of outstanding character,
citizenship, fairness, honesty, kindness, respect, responsibility and
trustworthiness. They were recognized at the March 30 School Board meeting:

Spelling Bee
Wester MS student wins AreaThe Area 20 District Spelling Bee was held on Friday, March 12 at Legacy
High School. This year's competition consisted of 32 students from
Mansfield ISD. The district has become so large that starting this
year, the Area 20 Spelling Bee will only consist of Mansfield ISD
students. Brooks Wester student Ellie Heskett claimed the title after
correctly spelling "gregarious." Both of Ellie's parents are teachers in the district. Jennifer Heskett is a Special Education teacher

Parent Survey: As a part of our educational improvement
planning, Mansfield ISD Administration is conducting its annual survey
to gain important feedback on how you rate your

ADHD Parenting Workshop: The Parenting Center is presenting a workshop aimed to help parents
whose children have ADHD. It's entitled "The Love and Logic Approach to
Parenting the ADHD Child." The free workshop runs from 8:30 to 9:30 AM on Friday, April 9 at Mary
Jo Sheppard Elementary in Mansfield. All Mansfield ISD parents and
staff are welcome.
Council PTA: Mansfield ISD PTA Council hosts "When I Grow Up"
with Ventriloquist Dennis Lee at 7:00 PM on April 12 in the Willie Pigg
Auditorium.
Icenhower Community Carwash: April 17 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM the Icenhower Intermediate school will put on a free community carwash. You
can wait inside while your car gets washed and have some lemonade and popcorn.
