Worley students learn with generous hearts
Community outreach and goodwill are the lessons of the day as Worley
Middle School students celebrated their annual holiday service project.
For
20 years, Rogene Worley Middle School has held an adopt-a-child holiday
service project for students at Alice Ponder Elementary School.
During the holiday season, the Worley Middle School virtue of the month is caring.
One of the ways the students and staff display this virtue is through
the annual service project. Students at Alice Ponder Elementary are
identified and "adopted" to receive gifts paid for by the Worley
student council.
"We pair up our
advisory kids so we have approximately 25 students assigned to one
Ponder student," explains Worley Middle School principal Christie
Alfred. Read on... |

Student Newspapers Spotlight
We are going to start featuring stories out of the student newspapers that are now available online thanks to the efforts of our high school journalism classes. Be sure to check out all of the great articles, features, commentary, photos, videos and more that these students are creating. ---- The Jagwire - http://www.mysummitnews.comIn the shoes of the PharmacistsThe Pharmacology class, located at Ben Barber Career Tech Academy, has
recently held a project for students within the class, where students
create original drugs of their own. Students organize themselves into a
group consisting of no more than three or four people, and come up with
their own drug name. Also, students then must develop a speech of their
own in order to help market their drug to pharmacies. They then must
present to the class, as well as to actual pharmacists, their drug
slide show, a homemade video, and a visual of what the drug looks like.

phone a couple inches from her head, she never thought any one would
find the secret inside.
It was just a picture. An innocent photo taken a few minutes after
arriving home from her double date. But the next morning proved her
actions were less than harmless. More... (*names have been changed)
---- The Outlook - http://thsoutlook.comGive moooooore to help othersMs. Cox and her classes will help raise money for the Heifer
organization this holiday season. Their goal of $500 will buy a family
in another country a cow for their Christmas.
"Giving back to a family in need is really great because some of us
take some of the smallest things for granted, we need to give back it's
not all about us getting we should give," junior Rachel Jackson said. More... ---- The Uproar - http://www.mhsuproar.com
Tis' The Season
A bright way to start off the season is digging out of all the
Christmas lights hidden in the garage and potentially risking your life
on a ladder to hang them. Though this tradition is becoming more and
more uncommon, there are a few houses that go above and beyond to make
sure their houses light up the night; so much so that they have become
trademarks for holiday visitors. More...

Dollars and toys spread holiday joy
Roberta Tipps Elementary Roberta Tipps Elementary participated in two community outreach opportunities - a
toy drive to benefit the Wesley Mission Center and a fundraiser event in honor
of Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County. The students and staff had two opportunities
to spread joy in the community. Each grade level had their own toy theme, and
for every dollar brought for Meals on Wheels, students were given a car to
color and attach to a bulletin board located at the front of the school. The
students and staff of Roberta Tipps donated a total of 268 toys and raised
$1,368 for Meals on Wheels. |
