Brown Elementary Custodian Named to Heartbeat Team
Margie Ford of Willie Brown Elementary School was named the January
2009 recipient of the MISD Heartbeat Award. District Superintendent
Vernon Newsom, along with a few other front-office personnel, surprised
Margie with a presentation that was held inside the school's cafeteria
where she happened to be cleaning at the time.
"Every time
you see her, she's busy with something," said Brown principal, Marilyn
Varner. "The school looks better than it has in a long, long time. She
treats the kids like she's a teacher; she has high regard for those
kids. They are her first priority."
