Nash Elementary Teacher Named 2009 National Bilingual Educator of the Year
The National Association for Bilingual Education will name fourth-grade
dual-language teacher at Erma Nash Elementary as its 2009 Bilingual
Educator of the Year.
He will be honored at the association's national
conference in February as well as receive a $2,500 award.
"It is very gratifying to me to feel appreciated and recognized for
what I do everyday," said Butler. "I wish that more of my
colleagues had the opportunities to get the same kind of recognition
because we all work very hard."

 An Attendance Committee has been formed to continue the 2008-2009

Intra-District Transfers
In order to be considered, transfer requests for the upcoming school year must be received in the Office of Student Services (609 East Broad St.)
by April 1. The decision of the Director of Campus Support shall be
considered final. Transportation is not provided for students who
obtain an intra-district transfer. 8th Grade Option Students who will be enrolled in 8th grade for the 2009-2010 school
year and whose campus of assignment has changed due to recent
attendance boundary revisions may apply to remain at the campus where they attended school during the 2008-2009 school year.

Coat Drives
Summit & Legacy High Schools The INTERACT CLUBS of Summit and Legacy High Schools are
challenging the MISD, Mansfield and Arlington communities to bring
coats & blankets to help the MISD clothes closet and surrounding
missions during this winter season. This coat drive runs January 20 - February 9, 2009. Get More info.
Mansfield High School JROTC It's cold outside!! Please look in your closets for coats that you no longer
wear. Mansfield High School JROTC cadets will collect used jackets and coats for
Mansfield area people in need from January 15-31, 2009.
Our coat
drive is at the Mansfield High School campus. Please leave your new and used
coats in room B2 or in our collection box located at the front reception desk.
You can also call 817-453-6711 to arrange for a home pickup of large
quantities. Thanks to you, fewer people will have to spend any more cold days
without a coat.

KERA Word Problem Winners
Two students from Mary Orr Intermediate won the KERA word problem contest.
600 kids entered from all over the DFW area and MISD was the only school district that
had two winners from the same school. Both boys won an iPod Nano and will have
their word problem and picture featured on the KERA Web site.

Superintendent Position - At the January 12, 2009 Called Meeting, the School Board chose to
interview a single candidate for the Superintendent. The Board will interview Dr. Bob Morrison, the district's Deputy Superintendent.

our campuses that are currently on the recall list, we have pulled all
