Superintendent's Message
"It is amazing how quickly this school year seems to be flying by. As
Superintendent, I have a unique perspective on all that goes on in the district. Our district community has shared some very happy moments to go along with our tragic losses. At each turn I am amazed at the resiliency of our students and it is my belief that it is through our combined efforts that we move forward. I hope each of you has a Merry
Christmas and a very special holiday season. Thank you for your support for Mansfield ISD."

Polar Express runs through Davis Elementary
Kenneth Davis Elementary School students experience a popular children's story as campus is transformed into fictional train.
On Tuesday, December 18, over 700 students sat in the hallways of Davis Elementary and listened to a reader's theater version of The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg over the P.A. system. The readers included district and campus administrators and staff. Hallways were decorated with student art based on the book and then lit with string lights for the morning event. The students sat in the hallways as their teachers held copies of the book for them to see while the story was read.

| Give one for the team H.S. Blood Drive The MISD high schools participated in HOSA's "Give one for the Team" Blood Drive on Monday, December 17.
HOSA, or Health Occupations Students of America, student organization sponsored the simultaneous drive on all four high school campuses.
Although all donors were welcome, this drive focused primarily
on MISD athletes as donors.
By the numbers: 165 units of blood donated, 191 students were seen, this amount of blood will touch/save 447 peoples lives.
"This has never been done before," says William Kaschub, RN, Clinical Instructor at Ben Barber Career Tech Academy. "Because this is a new concept [targeting the athletes], Carter Blood Care
is very excited about it. They are considering it a pilot program which, if
successful, will be the model for other school districts across the country!"

Inclement Weather Reminder
As
winter sets in so does the opportunity for inclement weather. We
encourage parents to become familiar with the District's communication
process in the event of bad weather.
The closing of schools due to inclement weather is the decision of the district administration. The decision to cancel school will be made as early as possible and the radio and TV stations listed below will be notified. They, in turn, will announce the closure. Please do NOT call school offices or teachers for such information.
