Danny Griffin Operations Complex Naming Ceremony

Danny Griffin Operations Complex Naming CeremonyOn Sunday, November 4, 2007, MISD named the Operations Complex for a beloved former special education bus driver who passed away in 2003.

Danny Griffin worked for the MISD Transportation Department for 20 years. He and his wife, Verna, were the first husband and wife special-needs driving team, driving as partners for 17 years.

"Danny Griffin was the model school bus driver; dependable, compassionate, loyal, and trustworthy," says Joe Glover MISD Director of School Services.

In January 2003, Danny was diagnosed with brain cancer. "Through all of his chemotherapy and radiation treatments, he still kept his charming and witty personality," recalls his daughter, Heather. "He left impressive footprints on your heart, and you couldn't help but love him and want to be around him."

HOG Week: Mansfield Timberview HS

HOG WeekTimberview students turned Halloween into HOG-O-WEEN as they continued the campus tradition of HOG (Helping Others thru Giving) Week, a week-long fundraising campaign.

The students were supporting the 9-year-old son of a MTHS faculty member, Coach Marty Malone. Tyler Malone, a healthy, athletic fourth grade student, was in a four-wheeling accident in February 2007. Many surgeries later, Tyler and his family are still adjusting to his life as a paraplegic. Totaling hospital bills, wheelchair ramp installations, and many other new costs the Malone family is facing, as well as the All-Terrain wheelchair Tyler is wishing for, the total financial goal for this year's HOG Week was $15,000.

According to preliminary totals, MTHS HOG Week raised over $20,000.
