District Hosts Region 5 UIL Marching Band Contest

Band

On Tuesday, October 23, 2007, MISD will host the 2007 Region 5 UIL Marching Band Contest at the MISD Stadium.

The event is open to the public. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and senior citizens.

MISD high school marching band times:

Mansfield Legacy - 4:30 PM
Mansfield Timberview - 6:15 PM
Mansfield - 6:30 PM
Mansfield Summit - 8:00 PM

Spencer Elementary Counselor Named Heartbeat Winner

Heartbeat Award Winner

Katie Noel of Cora Spencer Elementary was awarded the Mansfield ISD Heartbeat Award on Thursday, October 11. District Superintendent Vernon Newsom surprised Noel with the award, a shirt and a cookie bouquet.

Noel, pictured at right, consistently demonstrates her commitment to the students and takes great pride in their individual successes.

Middle Schools Battle to Fight Hunger
Danny Jones & James Coble Middle Schools' friendly rivalry benefits area food banks

Danny CannedFood DriveJones vs. James Coble Rivalry Week canned food drive October 29 - November 2

The rules are simple: whichever school brings in the most canned goods will have the losing school's administrators conduct lunch patrol while wearing the winning school's football jersey.

Danny Jones Middle School is collecting for Tarrant Area Food Bank and James
Coble Middle School is collecting for Mission Arlington.

Both schools are collecting the entire week of their sports matchups, football and volleyball.

The schools will be collect canned food during the school day as well as during all games that week.

Football:
Monday (7th) 5:45 and 7:00   Tuesday (8th)  5:45 and 7:00 

Volleyball: 
Monday (7th) 5:45 and 7:00   Thursday (8th) 5:45 and 7:00
 
Lillard Leopard Leadership Team Participates in Kids Care Week 2007

Lillard IntermediateDuring Kids Care Week 2007 (Oct. 21 to Oct. 27), Mansfield ISD's Mary Lillard Intermediate School's Leopard Leadership Team, a Kids Care Club of 20 students, are participating in a volunteer project under the national Kids Care Week theme of "Bringing Good Moments." For this volunteer activity, the school's student leadership team has designed and begun implementing a toiletries collection drive at the school of approximately 600 fifth and sixth grade students. Initial funds from a mini-grant received from Kids Care Clubs, a program of the Points of Light & Hands On Network, will help cover the cost of additional items for Boo-tique bags for the children and their parents living at the nearby homeless shelter, the Arlington Life Shelter, to be delivered by the school's Leopard Leadership Team after school, Friday, October 26th.
