The first show, starting at 5:15 pm, will screen KISS ME, the new lesbian hit feature film from Sweden. Back by popular demand, KISS ME is an intriguing, romantic love story that offers a smorgasbord of deep emotional explorations, sensual love scenes, beautiful cinematography, and an irresistible music soundtrack. This film has easy to read subtitles. The second show, starting at 7:20 pm, will screen "Best Lesbian Shorts: Love & Friendship" and the new short documentary, "T'Aint Nobody's Bizness: Queer Blues Divas of the 1920s". The "Best Lesbian Shorts: Love & Friendship" will include four award-winning shorts that offer a variety of funny, romantic, and heartwarming stories about dating, love, and friendship. Television actors Dana Delany (star of "Body of Proof") and Michelle Bonilla (star of "Bones") star in the centerpiece short, "Getting to Know You" by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Liz Lachman. This polished, hilarious comedy is a tongue in cheek satire on dating and the search for Ms. Right. In celebration of Black History Month, "T'Aint Nobody's Bizness: Queer Blues Divas of the 1920s" is a fascinating look at the lives of lesbian and bisexual African American blues singers including Ethel Waters, Bessie Smith, and Ma Rainey. With vintage photos and recordings and narration by lesbian author Jewel Gomez, this new documentary transports the viewer into the intimate worlds of these famous singers. The Shorts Program is also screening: "Dancing To Happiness" (subtitled), an uplifting Belgium film about how true love and the love of dancing can overcome the largest of class differences, "Hi Maya", a heartwarming Swiss film about two women in their seventies who reconnect after fifty years and fall in love, and "What Hot Guy", a fun spoof on one night stands. SPONSORSHIP and DONATIONS
In 1982 Northampton held its first liberation Pride march despite the overwhelmingly homophobic and discriminatory realities facing LGBT people nation-wide. Our Pride event, annually held in May, now draws thousands of people from New England and beyond. Our Pride event has evolved from people marching with bags on their heads into a day that brings diverse communities together to celebrate the freedom of being who we are. Through the long-lasting volunteer efforts of local community members and the leadership of Noho Pride, in 2011 we celebrated our 30th anniversary of LGBT pride and fight for equality. With sponsorships, donations and fundraisers, we are able to offer this extraordinary day of LGBT Pride totally FREE to everyone. So please consider becoming a Noho Pride sponsor and\or making a donation.
