Manufacturing Summit
Area Firms Attend

HCC Mfg. Summit

More than 60 representatives of the Greater Bridgeport manufacturing community participated in a manufacturing summit at HCC recently to learn about the college's new Regional Advanced Manufacturing Center and the new programs being offered there. The new Advanced Manufacturing Program, which will debut in the Fall, 2012 semester, will prepare students for careers in basic through advanced manufacturing. These careers include hands-on machinist, CNC (Computer Numeric Control) Operator and Quality Control inspector, which can pay $15-$20 per hour. The center and programs were heralded by attendees as the answer to emerging workforce needs triggered by a resurgence in manufacturing.
