 Greetings!

Happy day to you! We hope you are feeling thankful and joyful.
Speaking of joyful, here's our favorite video of the week, one that would make Beethoven (and Henry van Dyke) dance - Joyful, Joyful . . . We are convinced that God dances too!
And, so we dance too (well, one of us was brought up Baptist and Baptists don't dance!) knowing that God made you and called you and us into connection. Amazing how that happens. Amazing.
That - amazing - is a good word for this week's gospel passage - Mark 8:27-38 - and Jesus' interactions with his disciples. We've got a scene in which they are travelling through a very sparsely populated and, to some degree, barren place when Jesus asks, "Who do you say that I am?" They answer, of course, that Jesus is the Messiah. But, what does that mean? What does that mean to you? Or, who do you say that Jesus is?
Got your answer, an answer with which you feel comfortable?
Good . . . So now see how your answer fits in the context of Jesus advice to keep your eyes on divine things . . . And, then consider your answer in the context of this verse: "For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel, will save it."
It struck us this morning that so many run to the altar rail to get "saved." Does that mean losing one's life? Might it be more appropriate to get "lost" so that we might be "saved," begin the inner transformation that leads us to real life?
   Just asking.
This week, we also continue our journey with James, reading James 3:1-12. Then we've got Psalm 19 and Proverbs 1:20-33.
We hope that you'll share your thoughts/feeling either by dropping Steve a note [address below] or by joining us for GodTalk which meets in the front parlor of 73 Grand Street (aka The Frame Building), Newburgh, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening. We begin with some catch up time followed by centering music, prayer, a reading of the gospel and a no holds barred conversation. We'll be pleased to have you join our merry band (use the link below to let us know you'll be coming).

We wish you abundant joy!
