Letter from Debbie Hanson, PTA President
Deborah Hanson

Dear Island Park parents,

There's much buzz around school these days after Island Park teachers and staff had a chance to meet our new, incoming principal, David Hoffman last week.  Mr. Hoffman received a warm welcome and I am hearing loads of positive comments from teachers, staff and administrators in response to this first meeting!  While Dr. Loorem's retirement is a tremendous loss for our community, the impact is cushioned knowing that we have another wonderful, experienced leader ready to step in, come July.  Dr. Loorem will spend time working with Mr. Hoffman to ease the transition so you may see him on our campus from time to time, including at our PJ's and Pancakes event.

On a different note, today marks the official launch of Mercer Island School District's 'Bridge the Gap' campaign, following the Breakfast of Champions kickoff this morning.  Thank you to those who attended this exhilarating celebration of our students and teachers and special thanks to those who have already donated to this important campaign! It's not too late to contribute!
