Loving God Involves Loving Others
Our theme this year for GPBC is "Faith, Hope and Charity!" from 1 Cor 13:13.
I am convinced that if you can show me a church where there is love for God and One another, I will show you a church that is truly making a difference in both the church and the world!
D.L. Moody told once of a little boy in Chicago who attended one of his Sunday schools. When his parents moved to another part of the city the little fellow still attended the same Sunday school, although it meant a long, tiresome walk each way. A friend asked him why he went so far, and reminding him that there were plenty of other churches that were just as good, but closer to his home. He said, "They may be just as good for others, but not for me!" "Why not?" his friend asked. He quickly replied, "Because they know how to love a boy over there."
I am convinced that if we can make the world believe that we genuinely loved them there would be fewer empty churches and many more coming to Christ in personal faith!
1 John 4:7-11
7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
When we let genuine love replace rigid duty in our personal church service, we can be sure that the world will not only notice but they will also be much more prepared for our witness to them!
Matthew 5:16
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
God bless you!
