In the early 1600's, during the reign of Oliver Cromwell, there was a shortage of currency in the British Empire. Representatives carefully searched the nation in hopes of finding silver to meet the emergency. After a month, the committee returned with its report. "We have searched the Empire in vain seeking to find silver. To our dismay, we found none anywhere except in the cathedrals where the statues of the saints are made of choice silver." To this, Oliver Cromwell eloquently answered, "Then let us melt down the saints and put them back into circulation."
The holidays are now past and for many of us it has been a challenge to keep our priorities of faithful service, consistent stewardship, and personal soul winning in their right place!
One of the primary responsibilities as a believer is to be faithful in all that we do! If you have struggled with this over the last couple of months, you are not alone! As your pastor, let me encourage you to "get back into circulation" here at GPBC!
If there has ever been a need in our world today it is to see God's saints "melted down and put back into circulation as faithful witnesses and ambassadors for Jesus Christ!"
Our theme for this year is "Faith, Hope and Charity!" We can demonstrate all three of these Christian virtues just by being in our places this Sunday!
If you are out of circulation why not get back into the habit of faithful church attendance, obedient stewardship and fervently sharing your faith with others. Ask God to help you to start this right now! In Eternity, you will be glad that you did!
God Bless You! See you on Sunday!
