GPBC Fellowship Hall Needs a New Roof!

GPBC is preparing to re-roof the Fellowship Hall before the winter rains return. The old roof has served us well, but has now completely deteriorated and must be replaced. There are actually three roofs that must be removed before the new roof can be installed.

The deacons and I have searched and prayed for the best use of our time and resources and have concluded that we need to contract this project out to a professional roofing company. They are set to go whenever we give them the go ahead. The total cost for this project will be approximately

$7, 000.

I am asking every family to pray about "your part" in this vital project. Together with God's help we can raise this amount in just a little while and take care of this immediate need. The key is for everyone "to do their part."

Let me ask you to pray and give toward this urgent need no later than the end of September.

Please use the special envelope designated for this offering or you may use the regular church envelope. Just mark the amount to be given in Special: Roof Project. Please allow me to remind you that our offering for the roof must be above our regular tithes and missions offering.

I believe you know that I do not come often with an urgent need. However, this is one of those needs. I know that GPBC can depend on every family to do their part! Please pray and with "All of your heart, let's do our part!"

God bless!

Pastor Rick Adams

In Memory of Dr. Gene Blackburn Blackburns

On August 9th, Dr. Gene Blackburn went home to be with the Lord at about 8:00 p.m. For those of us who knew Bro. Blackburn, he was a loyal friend, encourager, and co-laborer with Christ!

He always had a positive outlook on things and looked forward to the future. He pastored and planted churches in North Carolina and Montana for 20 years before he and his wife joined the Rock of Ages and served as missionaries for the past 18 years.

Bro. Blackburn and his wife Evelyn were members of GPBC for nearly 10 years before moving to Tennessee to join the staff at the home office of ROA. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is now in the presence of his Savior and reunited in heaven with precious wife, Evelyn.

Bro Blackburn was able to make a trip out to the west coast last Fall, and preached here on Sunday, November 21st. Here is a link to his final message preached at GPBC.

Ten years ago, America was brought to her knees as terrorists attacked our nation. What the terrorists meant for evil, God can and has used for good.

God's Word promises that out of the ashes of sin, sorrow and shame, we can find hope, healing and forgiveness!

Jesus Christ is our Hope!  Because of an old rugged cross and an empty grave there is hope, healing and forgiveness to all that place their faith and trust in Jesus!

We invite you to come and find that hope, and in doing so, leave with eternal life!

We must never forget that day when our nation was brought to its knees... Join us as we pay tribute to those who lost their lives and find that Hope that remains in the aftermath of tragedy.
