 Vacation: Glorifying God this Summer!

picnicI read recently where someone said: "Vacation: When you spend thousands of dollars to see what rain looks like in a different part of the world."

There is no doubt in my mind that man is from the Pacific Northwest!"

We are already over a week into summer and it is 53 degrees and raining in Portland!

However, as a tried and proven "Northwesterner" I know that most of us will be enjoying the vacation season even if it is without the dry warm weather!

Summer, no matter what the weather or temperature, is a great time of the year to rest, relax, and to recreate together!

I pray that each of our GPBC families get to enjoy this summer season together!

As your pastor let me challenge you to determine not to let this great season of our year and life pass without making it our greatest summer ever! How can we do that? The answer is simple! Let's make sure that we "honor and glorify God in all that we do!"  1 Cor 10:31; Col 3:17.

Here are just a few ways that we can honor and glorify God this summer:

  • Determine to be faithful to Jesus even though it is summer!
  • Remember to be a faithful steward to your Church even while you are out of town.
  • Personally guard your heart and testimony during the summer months!
  • Be a faithful witness and be ready to share Christ with others wherever you are!
  • Please  inform others when you are going to be gone on vacation so we can pray for you!
  • Make sure that your responsibilities are covered before you leave!
  • When you get back home, come on back to church and tell us all about!

On another very serious note please do not let this summer end with out knowing Christ as your personal Savior!  Jeremiah echoes this truth when he said, "The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved." Jeremiah 8:20  Please trust in Christ today if you have never done so before. Romans 10:9-13

Before you know it summer will be over! Solomon tells "He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame." Proverbs 10:5

Let's make this not only a great summer, but one that "honors and glorifies our Lord!"

Just a piece of advice, do not get too far from that North Face jacket this summer!

God bless and Lord willing I will see you on Sunday!
