This Sunday is Mother's Day!
May 8, 2011
It has been confirmed that Mother's Day is the busiest day of the year for florists, card shops, restaurants and long distance phone companies! Before it became a presidential proclamation, honoring mothers was God's idea!
"Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee." Exodus 20:12
You can rest assured that we will do that this Sunday! It is an honor to pastor ladies that are doing their best to love God, their husbands and their children while taking care of the many areas of ministry that makes GPBC so special!
I will be speaking on the wonderful honor and privilege of being a mother. If your mother is still alive and able to attend please invite her to be your guest this week.
Last Sunday night I asked every member of GPBC how many had a mother that was already in Heaven. Scores of hands went up! Then I asked them, and want to extend the same challenge to you, that if your mother is in Heaven or is not able to attend with you this Sunday, use this as an opportunity to invite another mother to be your mother at GPBC this Sunday! Who knows? It may be the one event that will change her life for eternity!
God bless you! See you Sunday!

GPBC Spring Sunday School Campaign
Continues This Sunday!
Every member is encouraged to come to Sunday School this week as we continue our Spring SS Campaign!
How are you doing in the challenge we made to give ONE tract a day for the next 21 days? Are you praying over your tracts? Have you seen God give you opportunity to share that tract with someone today? Keep pressing on, asking God to help you, as we give ONE tract each day to ONE person for 21 days! Who knows what God might do?
You may only be ONE person but you can make an eternal difference in the life of someONE else! It could be that this Sunday just may be the ONE Sunday that God does a supernatural work in your life! Please be here on time at 9:45am! See you then!

National Day of Prayer Recognition
Tomorrow, (Thursday, May 5)
Though some might call the twenty-first century the Age of Anxiety, our current troubles are not new. Mankind's future has always been uncertain. Since the days of Noah, Moses, the persecuted early church, the Pilgrims, and America's founding fathers, the answer for people facing adversity has always been the same: Almighty God.
Simply put, there is no security apart from God. When problems threaten to engulf us, we must do what believers have always done- turn to the Lord. Psalm 91:2 states, "I will say of the LORD, he is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." However, because of our pride, affluence, independence, or a thousand other reasons, many of us act as if we can get along just fine without the Lord. For more than 40 years we have been telling God, "Keep Out! Keep out of our government, communities, businesses, and entertainment. Keep out of our schools. Keep out of our families. Keep out of our lives!" And, because God is gracious, He doesn't force His way into those places we've not invited Him. Psalm 47:9 reminds us that "the shields of the earth belong unto God." And, when those shields are removed, we face the fury of life's storms on our own.
Yet God has not abandoned us. He has promised, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Hebrews 13:5). Even during the storms of life, He stands ever watchful, waiting to embrace us the moment we seek His presence. He also said, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee." (Jeremiah 33:3)
Join us tomorrow, Thursday, May 5, at 8:35am as we GATHER AT THE FLAG POLE to unite in prayer, calling upon Almighty God and giving thanks for His many blessings, to ask His forgiveness for our individual and national sins, and pray for His hand of mercy, protection and guidance on our great land.
