The 2011 Charlotte Shakespeare Festival was a success on all fronts! Thanks to those who joined us for our first non-Shakespeare production - the hilarious Tartuffe outdoors at The Green - and for Shakespeare's epic King Lear in the McGlohon Theatre. Audience feedback was extremely positive and the reviews were glowing:

The Charlotte Observer called Tartuffe "a sharp and witty production that makes for a rollicking evening on The Green."

Creative Loafing called King Lear a "majestic production."

Arts a la Mode called us "First rate" and said "the classics presented by this excellent Festival entertain and enlighten at the same time, and show what the best of theatre can be."

We are excited by the reactions to our 2011 season and are hard at work planning for 2012. We hope that you are looking forward to another summer of the classics as well. In the next few days, we'll be asking for your feedback on a survey to provide us with some insight on the types of shows you would like to see in future seasons as well as your thoughts on the 2011 productions. We know what the critics think, but we'd like to hear from you, our audience members. Please keep an eye out for this email - it will only take a few minutes to send us your feedback.

In the meantime, we hope that you will show your support by participating in a unique opportunity described below...

 Knight Foundation Matches Donations to
The Charlotte Shakespeare Festival

 Support Free Will via Power2give.org
and your donation will be doubled!

Free Will

The Arts and Science Council has launched a new fundraising website called Power2give.org, which allows individuals to donate directly to non-profit projects that they care about. For a very limited time, the Knight Foundation has generously offered to match donations 100%, essentially doubling the impact of your donation.

We've launched a project called Support Free Will to raise funds for The 2012 Charlotte Shakespeare Festival. You might think it's a bit early to be asking for donations for 2012, but given this special chance for donors to have their gifts matched by the Knight Foundation, we think this is a perfect opportunity to start next summer's festival on a strong footing. If you've been thinking about making a tax-deductible gift to support our work, now is a great time! A gift of $50, turns into $100; $150 becomes $300; $250 becomes $500... well, you get the picture! You're generosity goes twice as far, thanks to the Knight Foundation.

Just click on this link to visit our project page on Power2give.org today and make a donation. Thank you so much for your support!
