The 2011 Charlotte Shakespeare Festival is Dedicated to
the Memory of

Ken Akers

Dedicated Actor * Tireless Volunteer * Passionate Leader * Dear Friend

On June 1, 2011, our dear friend and board president Ken Akers passed away unexpectedly. Ken loved this theatre and The Charlotte Shakespeare Festival. He helped get the festival on its feet in the early years and has been a unwavering advocate for our success ever since. While he put in many hours behind the scenes, you've also likely seen him on stage since he has appeared in every season since the beginning of the festival. His contributions are too numerous to count. We are forever in his debt and he will be missed by all who knew him.

"Farewell my friend, fare thee well.

The elements be kind to thee, and make

They spirits all of comfort, fare the well."

- William Shakespeare
