Planters and Banners
| Please keep our downtown beautiful with a contribution to our planter and street banner fund!
This year, we are in need of funding to replace perennials and add colorful annuals to the planters that grace the sidewalks in our retail district, as well as cover weekly watering costs.
We are also working on purchasing colorful banners to hang down Main Street from Walgreens to downtown. We hope these banners will show visitors that there is more to Lake Mills than one popular intersection - it's worth the drive down beautiful residential Main Street to our historic shopping district. (Note - the picture at right is an illustration of a banner, but not the design we will be using.)
If you would like to help out by donating to either of these efforts, please contact Jill Nadeau at 920-648-2344 or mail a check to the Lake Mills Main Street Program, 200 Water Street, Lake Mills, WI. You can also donate online - please indicate that your donation is for the Streetscapes Program in the Comments section. Thank you! Our sincere thanks to supporters who have already contacted us to help make our downtown look fantastic: Bank of Lake Mills; Marilyn Lohman; Arlys and Dennis Hawkes; Ralph and Margaret Krueger; Kris and Christa Walter; Steven Fahsel, DDS; Crystal Farms; Lakeland Cold Storage; El Mariachi; and James Huska, CPA, LLC. Anyone interested in helping to plant flowers in the planters can meet at Dutch Designs at noon on Thursday, May 19. For more information, please call Hope at 920-648-8234. |

Paper and Electronics Shred Day
|
The Bank of Lake Mills is hosting a Paper Shred Day in June. Also included in the recycling effort this time is electronic devices. That means that those old TVs, VCRs, computers, printers, and keyboards that no longer work and are taking up space in your basement or garage finally have an invitation to lodge somewhere other than your home!
Bring any documents that need shredding and/or electronic devices to The Bank of Lake Mills on Saturday, June 11 from 9am-11am. Look for the "Pro Shred" truck. A $2 donation per box of papers and each electronic item is requested. Proceeds will benefit Relay for Life and the Lake Mills Main Street Program. |

Lewis Station Winery Update
|
Have you noticed the amazing progress on the new Lewis Station Winery? The walls are up, and it won't be long before The Wine Vineyard moves into its new home on the corner of Main and Madison streets. Along with the wonderful selection of wines for sale in the retail portion of the new building, look for the Lewis Station Winery label as Rob brings his own micro-winery to Lake Mills. And the Tasting Room will triple in size from its current location - seating close to 100 people and doubling as Lake Mills' own live theater, with regular Penguin Productions shows and more in the months to come! "This is the realization of a dream," said Rob recently, "and Michelle and I can't be more excited about it."
Rob Lewis is looking for photos of this property from its former life as a gas station. If you have any pictures or memorabilia, please contact Rob at 920-648-5481 and let him know. He would love to decorate the interior of the "new" station with pictures and history from the "old" station. |

Special Session for City Council
|
If you are a business owner in Lake Mills, mark your calendar for the May 31 Special Session of the Lake Mills City Council at 6pm. The Title 10 proposed zoning changes are being revisited by the Council. They will take a specialized approach to the zoning proposal, and will exclusively discuss proposed zoning changes for businesses only. (Proposed changes for lake and residential zoning will be heard at a later date.)
Business owners and interested parties are encouraged to attend this special session on May 31 and come forward with their concerns and suggestions during the Public Comments portion of the meeting. Attendees are also encouraged to stay for the full meeting. After the Public Comments portion of the meeting is closed, please jot down any thoughts or concerns you have during the Council discussion and forward your written input to Council President Ed Grunden. He will compile all additional comments into a document for the City Council to read and consider.
This is your opportunity to learn about and have input toward changes in zoning regulations that may impact your business or business property.
The proposed changes in zoning can be found online or by calling City Hall at 920-648-2344. Please note that the proposed changes are in black, the existing regulations are in blue, and regulations to be deleted are in red. |
