City Zoning Changes - a message from your Main Street Board
|
The city of Lake Mills has a new Zoning & Ordinance proposal that they are considering. Large parts of the old ordinances will be changed. The Main Street Program would like to make our community aware of these proposed changes. Here is a link to the draft proposals - PLEASE LOOK THROUGH THEM!! There are a lot of changes.
As you read the zoning information, please note that the proposed changes are in black, existing regulations are in blue, and regulations that are to be removed are in red.
We feel it is very important that people know what is being proposed, and the changes you could be faced with should these ordinances be passed. Whether you agree or disagree with these proposed changes, please contact your council rep and/or attend upcoming meetings where public comment will be heard. The public comment meeting should be held in mid March.

There are three links on this page. The first one takes you to a map. The second is a large document with proposed changes. The third comprises proposed changes to subdivisions.
The City Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Agendas are published in the Lake Mills Leader and on the city website at: http://www.ci.lake-mills.wi.us/images/CCAgenda_data/Agendas.htm the week prior to the meeting. Please check either source for the zoning meeting, which will most likely be held on March 15 - and please attend if you can.

Knickerbocker Wrap-Up
|
Perfect weather was the icing on the cake of this year's Knickerbocker Ice Festival. Hundreds of people from all over the area participated in the many activities throughout the two-day event.
"We are so pleased with this year's festival," said Lake Mills Main Street Executive Director Jill Nadeau. "Downtown was busy all day, all of our events had big turnouts and Channel 15 out of Madison covered it. Everyone seemed to be having a great time!"
The eleven ice sculptures lining downtown streets were a big name attraction as were the Snowball Eating contest, the IdiderDAD race and the Frozen Fish toss. The decorated sled parade around the ice rink also drew many spectators.
Eleven teams participated in Friday's Team Trivia event at the Municipal Building. The winners of the coveted "Brainiac Trophy" were Lisa, Michael and Jon Quade, Paul and Karen Buscemi, Beth Schleiger and Shaun and Marty Bollig.
On Saturday morning, the Knickerbocker King and Queen were crowned at TT's Timeout. Dave Adamec and Ritz Lundstrom were "blessed" with a snow shovel by Knickerbocker Ice Festival Committee Chair Hope Oostdik, given crowns, scepters and capes and they spent the day mingling with the "commoners" at all of the activities.
Edgar Hernandez won the top raffle prize of a $500 downtown Lake Mills shopping spree. Winning the $250 spree was Neil Purisch, and the $100 spree went to Brad Glassel.
Other winners included Iceberg Open Golf Champions Lisa and Jim Maurer and Keith and Jim Gauch. Chili Cook-off winners were Ben Fry and Mike Weber for the "Red" category and Jan Fosso for the "Other" category. Jan also picked up 2nd place in "Red" and Maddie Martins picked up 2nd place for "Other."
The "Lancers" and "Uncontrollable Urge" took the top spots in the new Sandy Beach Hockey Tournament. Leading the winners at the Fisheree were Aaron Peters with a 16" small mouth Bass for 1st place; Caleb Quest with a 19.5" Walleye for 2nd place; Brad Sanft with a 19" large mouth Bass for 3rd place; and Trig Maier with a 29" Northern for 4th place.
