Christmas 2010
Christmas at The Caldwell House began with the Abbeville Christmas Stroll on December 2nd when about 350 people toured the home and west garden pavilion. Each room of The Caldwell House was beautifully decorated by our staff.
Guests entering the home were greeted with garland with white lights surrounding the front door and large poinsettias in pots on each side of the door, trimmed with magnolia leaves. The center of attention was the large Christmas tree in the parlor, set within the turret of front windows, adorned with tiny white lights, wood, silver and gold ornaments, red and gold poinsettias, and a special ornament given to The Caldwell staff by a past guest from Saint Louis. Tables were decorated with silk florals of the season, enhanced by gold, silver, burgundy & brass ornaments and ribbon.
An angel was perched on the dining room fireplace mantel, surrounded by Christmas greenery, white ribbon and gold ornaments.
The west garden pavilion was trimmed with lights, poinsettias and small Christmas trees. Christmas music echoed throughout the halls and outside under the pavilion. Guests were treated to sweets and coffee, a much-appreciated refreshment on that cold winter night of the Stroll.
The owners and staff of The Caldwell House would like to wish a Very Merry Christmas to all our friends. We appreciate your support of The Caldwell, thank you for your continued interest and hope to serve you in the future.

West Garden Pavilion

Construction is complete on The Caldwell House's West Garden Pavilion. This beautiful site offers an idyllic location for a wedding ceremony or garden party under a large dome over the brick circle, surrounded by lush landscaping set among magnolia trees. The roof of the pavilion is high enough to allow viewing of the surrounding trees, flowering plants and stained glass windows of the church.

The main area of the garden pavilion, surrounded on all sides by beautiful landscaping, offers a large area for seating, dancing and mingling. Clear curtains can be drawn around the entire pavilion area for those times of inclement weather, but still allow the beauty of the outside landscaping to be admired from within.
The West Garden Pavilion is available to anyone booking a wedding, reception or special event at The Caldwell House.

Historical Fact about life at The Caldwell House many years ago....
| The Caldwell House, though stuccoed on the outside, is actually built of bricks. Originally built as a brick Victorian style home, it was the first brick residence in Abbeville, built by its owner, Vernon Caldwell, who owned a brick manufacturing company.
