WPPA NEWS
Winter Game Night &
WPPA Meeting

Friday
December 3rd

7:00 pm
WPS Gym

We hope all students can attend as this is one event they don't want to miss!  Dave's Cast & Characters will be providing similar games as last year and our favorite DJ will be providing music and interactive activities.

In addition, parents are invited to attend a
'Parent Social' in
Cat Hall.

In order to ensure student supervision in the gym and allow all parents to attend a portion of the 'Parent Social' in Cat Hall, we are asking for parent volunteers to chaperone a 30 minute shift in the gym.

Please click on the link below to specify which time would work best for you. If you cannot chaperone, we are also taking food donations. Thank you in advance for your support!!

Pictures from our September & October events continue to be added to our website at

mail.winstonprep.edu

Please check back frequently as pictures are added
throughout the year.

We appreciate your patience as we are in the process of adding all pictures from our Frost Valley trip.

Greetings!

Students enjoyed 'Wildman' Steve Brill's visit on Tuesday as they toured the campus learning about various vegetation and medicinal remedies.

We would like to thank Allison Hollett for visiting with students on Wednesday and sharing the world of publishing. Students were engaged and learned about various career paths. Thank you!

As a reminder, please refer to the following policies found in your
Student & Family Handbook regarding "Visiting, Visitors and Guests".

"In order to provide our community the safety and privacy that is
required, the following visiting rules are enforced. Parents are asked to wait in the reception area when in the school buildings and if arriving to pick up their child. We ask that parents do not walk directly to classes or the Focus room to communicate with their child or child's teacher(s), as this can be disruptive to the learning environment, nor does this behavior respect our students' privacy. Students will be advised of parental arrival by reception or a faculty member. Guests, including professionals who come for school meetings, observations and/or tours, must register with the reception office.  Whenever possible, advance notice should be provided to the Office Manager and/or Head of School."

We appreciate your understanding and attention in this matter.

We are look forward to seeing you during parent conferences next week!  In addition we hope you will stop by our Book Fair in order to view your child's 'wishlist' and help us promote reading throughout the community.  For more information check out the 'Book Fair' box below.

Fall 2010 reports have been mailed and you should be receiving your child's report by the end of this week.

Have a wonderful weekend and see you next week!

Best,
Monika Shah
Director of Operations/WPPA Liaison

WPPA Book Fair

The Winston Prep Bookfair will be open all day at school on Wednesday 11/10, Thursday 11/11, and Friday 11/12.  Students will have an opportunity to make book purchases during school on Wednesday and Thursday.

Teachers will be filling out Teacher Wish Lists and parents and students will have a chance to possibly purchase books as gifts for their teachers, for holiday gifts, thank you gifts, etc.  Students will be filling out Student Wish Lists, as well.  Each student will complete their wish list during school on Wednesday and then each list will be kept on file in the bookfair.  Then while parents are at Winston for their child's Parent/Teacher Confernence they will have the opportunity to browse the bookfair, look up their child's wish list and teachers' wishlits and buy books for holiday gifts, etc.

If some parents can not make it to the Book Fair, we will have their child's wishlist on file.  Contact us via e-mail at bethkells@gmail.com to make arrangements to have the Wish List sent home. Then call (203) 400-1633, to place a book order on the phone.

We are looking forward to another great Book Fair at Winston and to help inspire students to enjoy reading, and raise money for the WPPA.

Thank you,
Beth Kells, Rita Bernstein & Carolyn White
