Remember to Sign Up for ITE#1: Communication Technology & Graphic Design (Sept. 19th)

This workshop will cover how to develop interesting and creative projects into your Graphic Design Courses. We will discuss how to incorporate everything from Pop culture, photography, and students' interest into your classroom. Basic Photoshop and Photography skills will also be covered.

This workshop will take you through the steps of the ITE Award winning project called "You the Movie". All participants will get an overview of the cameras the students use for the project, along with the software that is used to create the final design of a creative movie cover. Workshop participants will leave with a supply of creative Graphic Design TLA's.

All workshop attendees are requested to bring a digital camera if possible.

A full dinner will be provided at this workshop.

Remember to Sign Up for the Biomimicry Workshop (Sept. 27th)

NJTEEA invites you to learn about Biomimicry, the design process that looks to nature for viable solutions to real, human issues. Nature has been designing and redesigning for 3.8 billion years without polluting the environment.

This workshop will provide you with enough materials to take back to your classroom and introduce Biomimicry to your students and implement activities for students to start looking at nature as a model, measure and mentor, while they develop design solutions.

Explore this design process through a series of slides followed by a hands-on activity to get you involved in the very same process you will use with your students. This design process will help you link your curriculum to the environment and have students looking for solutions that are eco-friendly every time.

Dinner will be provided at this workshop.

Remember to Sign Up for the Aviation & Flight Workshop (Oct. 9th)

NJTEEA invites you to join us for a professional development workshop at Linwood Middle School to learn the basics of aviation & flight, and how you can incorporate these resources into your classroom. Learn about easy, inexpensive flight and aerospace projects for the STEM classroom such as stomp rockets, paper airplane challenge, and solid fuel rockets. A CD and packet with NASA and other activities, resources and curriculum will be available to all attendees.

High Octane Education (Bob Braverman)

 Braverman 2      Braverman 3

VENTNOR - Just as school was wrapping up for the year, teacher Bob Braverman took classroom learning in technology and engineering and applied them in a fun lesson for students. Student Colton Salomon-Lowden, 13, has been auto racing since she was 8 years old; following in the footsteps of her older sister, Mavis, who began racing at 10.

Students in the seventh-grade advanced technology class were treated to a visit by local racing family the Salomon-Lowden's who brought their drivers and cars to the Ventnor Educational Community Complex.

Braverman's students designed their own dragsters for aerodynamics and efficiency, built and tested them to see which would be the best. Parents Chuck and Sharon Salomon- Lowden are the pit crew and together they travel to races along the East Coast.

While Mavis has hung up her helmet, studying at the University of Pittsburgh, Colton has more than 800 passes down a drag strip and is in her sixth season as a racer.

Students got to see what a real dragster looks like up close, and Colton Salomon- Lowden finished the lesson with the roar of an engine when she suited up and jumped in the driver's seat.
