 Featured Keynote Speaker Dr. Greg Olsen - Third Private Citizen to Orbit Earth on the International Space Station
Greg Olsen was the third private citizen to orbit the earth on the International Space Station (ISS). After training for five months (900 hours) at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Moscow, he launched on a Russian Soyuz rocket TMA-7 on October 1, 2005 with Cosmonaut Valeri Tokarev and Astronaut Bill McArthur (Expedition 12). He then docked to the ISS on October 3, and returned to earth on Soyuz TMA-6 on October 11 with Cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev and Astronaut John Phillips (Expedition 11). He performed more than 150 orbits of the earth and logged almost 4 million miles of weightless travel during his 10 days in space.

 Featuring: Sessions On NASA Resources for Education
These workshops, presented by a NASA education expert, will introduce K-12 teachers to
the various NASA Ed. Resources available to them. Teachers will be shown how to access NASA teaching
materials, how to keep abreast of teacher and student NASA opportunities, and
what services the Aerospace Ed. Services Program can provide to them when
teaching STEM concepts. Valuable information and materials will be distributed.

NJTEA's intention to pair educator presenters with real world engineers and
other appropriate workforce partners to maximize the effectiveness of your
presentation. While you do not
need to provide your own partner, if you have a contact in mind, please feel
free to share.
We still have a few slots left and would like to hear your ideas. If you have any intentions of applying to present, send us an email at njtea@njtea.org for assistance in creating a presentation proposal.

 Get Funding to Attend the Conference!
Be proactive! Go to your school administration now and tell them you want to attend this event while funding is still available.
Be Positive! Tell you administrators that you want to attend this event to stay up-to-date on the most current trends in STEM education and that you want to represent your school and your district at a conference where policy makers in New Jersey education meet to share ideas and create direction for the future.
Apply to be a part of the program! This is a great way to give the leaders of your school district a solid reason to permit your attendance at this event.
Don't be afraid to ask for funding, but you need to start now! Check with your local PTA, education foundations, civic organizations (rotary or lions clubs),
