California Air Resources Board to Vote on Clean Cars Rulemaking Package This Week
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will hold a public hearing to consider adoption of its proposed, Advanced Clean Cars package of regulations on January 26-27 in Los Angeles. The package contains four separate, but related components that would require: reductions in greenhouse gas and smog-forming emissions, more zero-emission vehicles, and fueling infrastructure for zero-emission vehicles .
In addition, the U.S. EPA and U.S. DOT are hosting a public hearing January 24 in San Francisco on the proposed federal rule to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase fuel economy to 54.5 mpg by 2025.
Several opinion-editorials authored by Campaign Supporters have been published in media outlets statewide including:
- San Jose Mercury News: "Opinion: Clean Vehicles Move California Forward" - January 19, by ECOtality* and Nanosys.
- San Francisco Chronicle: "As California Drives, So Drives the Nation" - January 23, by William K. Reilly, former U.S. EPA Administrator and adviser to TPG Capital.
Get involved!
This CARB hearing is a major milestone in the California Clean Cars Campaign's efforts. There are several ways to support CARB in adopting strong clean cars standards. For example:
- Public testimony: CARB invites open public comment at the January 26-27 hearing in Los Angeles. If you are unable to attend the CARB hearing in LA, perhaps you could participate in the U.S. EPA and U.S. DOT hearing January 24 in San Francisco.
- Submit a comment letter: Comments can be submitted to CARB online. Comments are due by noon, January 25. Let us know if you need talking points.
- Notify your networks: If you have list-serves, newsletters, or do email alerts, we invite you to engage your networks and members to get involved.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities or have questions, please let us know at info@calcleancars.org.
