An Answer to Prayer
Duane Mitchell, the first Christian chief in Moricetown, B.C., Canada in 20 years, desires to lead his people according to scriptural values. It hasn't always been that way. His wife, Colleen, started attending a Bible study at the Kyah Bible Fellowship led by UIM missionary Doug Anderson. She and her daughter prayed for Duane's salvation for a number of years before he turned to follow Christ. In 1995, Doug gave Duane an audio tape that had the testimony of a pro golfer who was following Christ. This, together with other people, all had a part in Duane's turning to follow Christ.
Duane is now an elder in the church and leads the Sunday morning worship service. Recently, Bryon Brock, UIM Aviation field director, and his son Joseph, a UIM appointee, surveyed the Moricetown area. Joseph will soon be going to the Moricetown area to minister with Doug and Sherrie Anderson.

The hearts of the four missionary men were deeply moved as they hiked around the bend in the Mexican mountain trail and spotted the colorfully dressed Huichol Christians whose songs of praise they had been hearing. The Huicholes did not know these brothers in Christ, but they were expecting them and greeted each with a warm embrace.

Paula, the Young Tarahumara Girl
During a trip on the Copper Canyon train, UIM aviator David Wolf and his wife, Olivia, met a mother with a six-month-old baby. The baby had a cleft palate. God touched their hearts for this child. Through a neighbor, they found a doctor who would do free restorative surgery and a government children's hospital in Chihuahua that offered free care for such services and housing for families. In November 2010 David and Olivia made arrangements with the family, drove them to Chihuahua, and cared for their needs during the 17-day hospital stay. The baby, a girl named Paula, responded well to the first surgery. David and Olivia gave the parents a MegaVoice player that has Scripture portions recorded in their dialect so they could listen to it during the boring days in the hospital.
March 29, 2011, was the second surgery and November 8 was the third. During recovery after each surgery, Paula and her family stayed in the government dormitory in Chihuahua, where food is provided. David and Olivia visited each day and brought the family treats when possible.
The surgeries are over and Paula is doing well. Pray that the Lord will allow David and Olivia future contact with the family. Pray also that the family would see their need to accept the gift of eternal life by accepting Christ as their Savior.
