Okay . . . that's a silly title, but bear with me. In UIM, we are excited about our growing camping ministries . . . and, well, camping gets a little silly from time to time. We also take it very seriously . . . eternally seriously!
When you think of camping, you generally think of summertime. UIM has been involved in youth camping ministry since 1967. First organized as Summer Park Ranch, and with just a handful of campers sleeping in tents, now Broken Arrow Bible Ranch ministers to over 900 Native youth in the course of its summer camping season. In 1970 UIM began youth camping ministry in British Columbia, Canada, and in 1976 initiated Rock Nest Ranch, which is growing into a year-round ministry venue.
With the effective impact of camping in reaching Native youth with the Gospel in Canada and the United States, it was only natural that a similar mnistry be launched in Mexico. No matter the cultural background, it seems "kids are kids" wherever they are found. In 1990 Alpha and Omega Bible Camp was initiated in a home, and it has likewise grown over the years and proven effective, even as it has had numerous locations from which to operate over the years.
This April two more camps in Mexico got underway. We are excited! Newly launched under the leadership of Martin and Eren Garcia and Oliver Gallardo, the FIRST EVER youth camp among the Huichol took place. Additionally, a new camp ministry in the mountains of Tapalpa also recently occurred.
UIM International is effectively connecting with Native, Hispanic, and Mexican youth. As our Mexico field director recently wrote, "Pray that there be much fruit for God's glory among these young people."
As you keep connected with UIM International, you play a vital role in answer to this prayer! As these youth are reached with the Gospel, they are also challenged and trained to support and lead in their own local churches.
This is UIM Connection! We are connecting boys and girls, teens and adults, with the Creator and Lord, Jesus Christ! UIM camping is not just a summer or spring thing . . . it is an eternal thing!
