Between and Betwixt

I find myself these days between and betwixt.  I don't know about you, but I find myself between jaw-dropping amazement and eye-closing disbelief, between what is occurring on the world scene to our national morass-the ever-steepening moral slippery slope of political and social free fall.  I almost drift to panic, but then I stop, take a spiritual breath, and remember that this has been going on since the beginning of "the fall" in the Garden of Eden. Sin is playing itself out!

People need the Lord Jesus Christ,  He's the only answer-the only Savior.  Mankind needs to be reconciled, reconnected with the true and living God. They need Jesus Christ.  This is why we are here.  UIM International has existed for 55 years to reconnect lost people with Jesus Christ.  We have been entrusted with the ministry of reconciliation.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.  All this is from God who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.  Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.  We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God"  (2 Corinthians 56:17-20).

As you watch the news, so-called, remember that nothing has really changed.  There is a political perspective, but that is not our perspective.  We have a divine prophetic perspective.  World affairs are unfolding according to God's sovereign plan and purpose.  We press forward with confidence, connected with our Savior.  Even so come, Lord Jesus!  What a joyful expectation!

Thank you for keeping connected through this UIM Connection!  Invite others to join us!  Pass this along by forwarding UIM Connection!  to others in your social network.  I thank you!

Reaching the Lost in Quebec, Canada

For the past seven years, Mexican Nationals Adalberto and Everth Lara have traveled each Saturday, six hours round trip from their home in Joliette, Quebec to the Manawan Reserve to minister to the Atikamek people of Manawan, Quebec.

The Atikamek religion is largely animism mixed with Catholicism.  Since coming to the reserve the Laras have taught the true reason to live.  Through their patience and expressions of concern and love, many of the people have responded to the Gospel.  The majority of the children on the Manawan reserve suffer problems of violence and lack of love from the parents; many live isolated lives with a grandmother or with another relative or friend.  Their parents are addicted to alcohol or drugs or are in jail and can't care for them.

Jean Pierre Ottawa and his wife, Margarette, were the first of the Atikamek to become Christians.  Each week they open their home to adults, children and teens.  Others have made professions of faith but prefer to be visited in their homes.  The Laras would love to be permitted to live on the reserve.

Please pray for:

  • For the Atikamek believers who endure much pressure from their people for their decisions to follow Christ;
  • That the Laras will be given permission to live on the Manawan reserve;
  • For a married couple to serve alongside the Laras as missionaries;
  • That the Lord will give the Laras wisdom and strength as they deal with difficult situations that continue to come up.
