UIM Connection!
September 7, 2010

The ministries of UIM International are on the "cutting edge" of national and international affairs.  We don't plan it this way.  It is simply the nature of things in these critical days we are living in.  We covet your prayers on behalf of our mission, missionary families, and all we are seeking to reach with the Gospel of Jesus Christ across ALL borders . . . national and international!

In this edition of UIM Connection I draw your attention to this edited report from one of our areas of ministry.  May it inspire and incite you to pray fervently for the ministry of UIM International!

Yesterday the official chaplain of the [______] County Jail came to our place with paperwork for us to fill out to keep our clearance current as volunteer chaplains to minister in Spanish to the illegal immigrants.  There are always more than 100 of them detained in what is considered the Spanish speaking immigration of the jail of this one [_______] county.  Most are from Mexico, but some are from all over Latin America and some from faraway lands.  Yesterday in our Bible study there was a Christian black man from Africa who spoke Portuguese, Spanish, English and French.  One from El Salvador accepted the Lord as well as three from Mexico.

"What I wish to share is what this godly Christian chaplain told us.  There are more Muslims from Islamic countries detained in this county jail because of entering this country illegally than there are Mexicans and the others.  Almost all of them come to Mexico first and then sneak into the US.  The Muslims demand permission to practice their Islamic beliefs and the jail authorities have to accommodate them.  Right now is Ramadan so they have extra strict dietary laws with which the jail must comply.  It is causing much unrest.  The chaplain finds it very difficult to do his job."

UIM International is committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ with clarity and compassion.  It is the power of God unto salvation for all who believe!

Thank you for keeping connected with UIM International!

For HIS glory,

Dan Fredericks, Executive Director

 Twin Salvation

On Wednesday, September 1, Doug Anderson (UIM's Canada field director) and his wife, Sherrie, drove home to Moricetown after taking their son to the university in Vancouver.  They stopped in Prince George to visit twin sisters they have known for many years.  One of the sisters, Elaine, has been a believer for years, and the Lord has been healing and restoring her.  The Andersons had been praying for the salvation of Gina, Elaine's sister.  When they arrived, Gina told them that she'd watched a video on hell that Elaine had shown her and decided she wanted to have nothing more to do with her years-long lifestyle of drugs and alcohol; she wanted to follow the Lord.  Elaine was excited but concerned that Gina was depending on her own strength to accomplish that task.  The sisters and Andersons had a good visit and time of prayer, asking the Lord to do a great work in Gina's life.

Then the Andersons left for home.  While they were still on their way, they received a call from Elaine.  "Pull off the road," she said, "so both of you can listen to what Gina has to say."  Gina then told Doug and Sherrie that they hadn't been able to contact them earlier, so they Skyped UIM missionaries Jerry and Cara Holm.  After talking with the Holms, Gina decided to put her trust in Christ and fully follow Him in His strength.  Holms had prayed with her.  "Now I have a future!" Gina exclaimed.  Elaine then told the Andersons that Gina no longer wants to be involved with drugs and alcohol but to be in a right relationship with the Lord.

Doug and Sherrie thank God for such stories and for how the Lord uses many different people to accomplish His purposes.
