I was amazed..., no, I was chagrined, saddened and appalled recently upon learning of the new marketing efforts being put forth to cater to those who seek to travel, dine and lodge with their pets. Certain airlines, motels and restaurants are now catering to those who wish to lavish all the creature comforts (pardon the pun) upon their beloved felines, canines, special family member or friend.
I sensed a certain, and grave, disconnect in all this. When we become more endeared to our animal friends than to our fellow humankind, something has short circuited to be sure.
I appreciate the fact that you remain connected to UIM and its ministries across North America. Because of your love for Christ Jesus and the provision He has made by His personal and sacrificial substitutionary death for mankind's sin, you demonstrate you are connected to the real Source of life.
We used to think it was the "heathen" and "savage" tribes that "worshipped and served the creature, rather than the Creator." But, now, we find our "educated" and "socially sophisticated" culture largely abandoning allegiance to the Creator. Such is the nature and true condition of the human heart.
I am thrilled to report to you that our UIM family of missionaries are bringing the glorious message of the one and only Creator/Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, to the masses of First Nations, Native American, Hispanic and Mexican peoples of North America. Church planting, personal discipleship, children and youth ministries, hospital and jail visitation ministries, aviation and auto service ministries, and much more are all working together to accomplish the task before us.
Your faithful prayers and financial support sustain this ministry. Go ahead and feed your pets, take them for a walk, let them ride with you in the car with the wind flying through their fur! Just keep in mind that their life with us is temporary. Each human soul is eternal. Stay connected. Continue to invest in eternal souls.
Blessings!
Dan
