3156 US 70W in Black Mountain (warning:google will send you to the other side of town)
Starting in Black Mountain, go west on US 70. From the light at Cragmont Road (CVS on the left), it's a little more than a half mile-- soon you'll see Duke's hotdog stand on right, Sherwin Williams and then Family Care Medicine. Look for leaves and lizards on the white cinder block building on the right, between Family Care and Head To Toe Salon. If you get to the light at Blue Ridge Road, you've gone too far.

The Amazing Atom
 | | Artist at Work |
Here's Atom Ledford, whipping up a mural around the doorway of Leaf & Lizard Studio. Atom was my student in Design class at MTCC last fall - and the guy knows how to paint! So fun to watch the leaves and lizard materialize on the white wall! You can see more of Atom's work on his website. |
C'mon. Let's Go Make Something
C'mon. Let's go make something. Open up your awareness. Get your hands dirty. Make something ugly. Make something beautiful. Play around. Goof off. Get serious. Give up. Come back later. Try again. Be obsessed. Iterate. Iterate. Iterate. Let it go. Throw stuff out. Rip it up. Throw paint on it. Talk about it. Don't talk about it. Let it speak for itself. Have conversations. Meditate. Create quiet space. Read more...

Celebrate Each Other
When asked what we can do to create change, the Dalai Lama replied: "There's too much emotion, too much negative emotion: frustration, hatred, anger. I think that's the greatest obstacle. So I think as a first step this should be cooled down. Reduced. Forget these things. And I think for the time being, we need more festivals, more picnics. Let us forget these difficult things, these emotions, and make personal friends. Then we can start to talk about these serious matters."
