Project Profile
Completed in three short months over summer break, this 53,000 square foot remodel primarily consisted of mechanical upgrades to increase energy efficiency and improve the air and sound quality for the students and staff.
Work included removing the existing heating system and installing new high-efficiency boilers, replacing air handling units with roof top units, hydronic piping throughout the building, and new unit heaters in the classrooms, vestibules, and corridors. A new electrical service was provided and a structural steel mezzanine was installed in the boiler room where the new electrical panels sit.
Steel beams were added to the roof structure to support the new air handling units and a portion of the membrane roof was also replaced due to its old age.
Other work included new acoustical ceiling tile at the district offices and classrooms to reduce the transmission of mechanical noise; salvaged tiles were installed in the hallways to save money on new materials and reduce waste. Much of the demolished equipment and ductwork was recycled on this project.

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable construction John Hill, Vice President of Rochester Operations for Schwab LLC, recently completed construction and demolition waste recycling training through WasteCap Resource Solutions.
This program helps develop skills to manage, monitor, document and promote successful recycling programs for construction and demolition debris. The seminar also covered preparing construction waste management plans, monitoring recycling programs for compliance and efficiency, identifying markets for reuse and recycling materials, and documenting reuse and recycling results. Participating in industry seminars, such as the WasteCap program, helps our team of professionals stregthen our understanding of new resources and technologies and apply this knowledge to your project.
