Issue: #2011-44November 7, 2011

Greetings NOVA Runners,

Practice will be at 6:30 P.M. at Wakefield High School.

With marathon season in full force we are reminded that runners are a breed of people that have only one thing in common, running. They are artists, teachers, executives and parents. They all run for different reasons which can vary from helping them deal with stress, coping with the loss of a loved one, creating me time or having a moment of thinking about nothing.  Personally, running is my time to defrag and compartmentalize events of my day. Indrajit Das submitted this article to us about why we run. I found this article very interesting because everyone in this article had their personal reason for why they run. To view this article click here: Running as Therapy.

We have reached the time of year where we need to start thinking about
next year's NOVA leadership roles. We will need someone to run for
president as well as other positions on NOVA's board--Mark and Samantha will not be able to do it next year. This has been a great year and I (Samantha--can only speak for myself) enjoyed setting things in motion and doing my part to contribute to the club after being a passive member for many years. I have no regrets being co-president and I will be
available to help the next president of NOVA, as the previous presidents
have helped Mark and I. Please let Mark (mad-241@hotmail.com), Samantha (sam@tecole.com) and Amanda (mandy13082@aol.com) know if you are interested in running for a club position.

Anyone interested in hosting a Cookie Run please e-mail Samantha and Mark.

We are still holding Thursday night tempo runs at 5:30 P.M.  If you are
interested in running with us or leading a run (if you lead a run you
can choose the time to have others meet you), please e-mail Samantha
(sam@tecole.com) and Dave Wertz (wertzdf@hotmail.com).

See you out there,

Mark Drosky (mad-241@hotmail.com) &

   Samantha Cole (sam@tecole.com)
NOVA Co-Presidents

Coach Jerry's Workout

Gang, don't let the fact that we've turned the clocks back deter you from coming to practice. We'll have the lights on at Wakefield, and the weather should be perfect, so come out and enjoy a crisp fall night with NOVA. And we've still got some racing left to do before the season ends, including the fastest 10k of the year, Veterans Day 10k this Sunday. Don't miss out on the fun! The workout tomorrow will be 4 x 800, 4 x 400, with a 400 jog after the 8s and a 200 jog after the 4s. As always, if you have any questions, give me a holler. See you out there tomorrow.
