Road Runners Club of America
Issue: #2011-40October 10, 2011

Greetings NOVA Runners,

Practice will be at 6:20 P.M. at TC Williams, Tuesday October 11th 2011.

Practice Tuesday October 18th will be held at Wakefield High School.  We will remain at Wakefield High School through the winter.

We had many of our members racing this weekend, Army 10 miler and  Steamtown Marathon. Please checkout the result list to see how our member's hard work along with Jerry's workouts payed off this weekend.

Mark had the pleasure of handing out bottled water to the 30,000 finishers at the ATM, it enabled him to view our NOVA members

at their finest.  Mark said " I was proud to witness their truimphs and tribulations. I was able to chat and share experiences with many of you,
it truly made my day. I have witnessed many of you toll week in and week out at the track, and today it paid dividends. A hearty "Well Done" to all our members who competed in the Army Ten Miler".

Anyone interested in hosting a Cookie Run please e-mail Samantha and Mark.

We are still holding Thursday night tempo runs at 5:30 P.M.  If you are
interested in running with us or leading a run (if you lead a run you
can choose the time to have others meet you), please e-mail Samantha
(sam@tecole.com) and Dave Wertz (wertzdf@hotmail.com).

See you out there,

Coach Jerry's Workout

We had numerous strong performances at Army 10, including our elite cadre of Laura O'Hara, Kate Dart, and Dave Wertz, but there's no question that the NOVA athlete of the week is Ali Piacente.  Ali ran an astounding 15 minute marathon PR on Sunday, going 3:06:19 at Steamtown.  That is truly a great run!  It's really enjoyable for me to see a young athlete who has worked so hard reap the rewards of her efforts, and there's no doubt that Ali's dedication has paid off in a major way.  Well done!

It should be a great night to run tomorrow, so I expect to see a capacity crowd at practice.  The workout will be 4 x 800, 4 x 400, all with a 400 jog.  As always, if you have any questions, give me a holler.  See you out there.

Coach Jerry
