Greetings NOVA Runners,

Practice will be at 6:30 P.M. at T.C. Williams High School.

Thanks to everyone that supported the race. Harvard did a great job listing and thanking everyone that volunteered in his e-mail to the Google list, so we won't list them here again. This race would never be possible without our members, sponsors and our volunteers. We made $659.00, which will go towards a well-deserved raise for Coach Jerry!

Also, see the section below about needing volunteers for a water stop during the Wilson Bridge Half Marathon on October 2nd. We need 15-20 people to be able to man the station properly, so please consider volunteering.

See you out there,

Tuesday Track: 6:30 P.M.

This Tuesday, Track will be at 6:30 P.M. at TC Williams High School this week, located at 3330 King Street, Alexandria,VA.  Be sure to arrive early to warm-up and stretch properly before the workout.

Coach Jerry's Workout

Thanks to all who worked on and ran in the race on Thursday.  I appreciate the support from everyone!  As far as the actual race, we had excellent performances from Ali, Harvard, and Coast Guard Mike, all of whom ran big PRs.  Special congratulations to Ali, who ran a PR by 40 seconds, which at her level is truly extraordinary.  I would be remiss if I did not thank Dave Wertz for pacing Ali to her big PR.  It was fitting that Dave, who has run so many huge PRs in the last year, was there to help Ali along.  That's what being part of a team is all about--we all help one another to acheive our potential.  Well done!

Now that we've made it through an earthquake and a hurricane in the course of four or five days, we'll be treated to a perfect night to run tomorrow, so I expect to see a great turnout.  We'll do the workout that we wanted to do last week, 2 x 1200, 2 x 800, 2 x 400, all with a 400 jog.  I expect that the track will be quite crowded tomorrow with school activities, and others who want to enjoy a beautiful night for running, so it's particularly important that we all observe the rules of etiquette.  First and foremost, remember that we are guests on the track, and be courteous to everyone who is out there, even if they aren't particularly courteous to you.  Also, remember to run your intervals in lane one, as close to the rail as possible, so that fasters runners can pass on the outside.  A handful of my elite athletes will be with us tomorrow, and they will be doing long intervals, so please stay inside to allow them pass you unimpeded.

As always, if you have any questions, give me a holler.  See you out there.

Coach Jerry

What: Wilson Bridge Half Marathon
Location: TBD - race course runs through Alexandria, VA to National Harbor, MD
Date: Sunday, October 2, 2011
Race Start Time: 0730
