Track practice will be at TC Williams High School at 6:30 P.M.

Greetings NOVA Runners,

We would like to thank each and every NOVA member for their support toward this Thursday's Run for Jerry 5k. Many of us have signed up or donated funds--those that have not signed up there is still space for you!! Because of this, we now have a cash surplus for the race and any additional funds will benefit our cause. We really appreciate all your support and dedication to our coach and our running club.

Here is an interesting article about The Death Valley Ultramarathon: Washington Post article on the Death Valley Ultramarathon

See you out there,

Tuesday Track: 6:30 P.M.

This Tuesday, Track will be at 6:30 P.M. at TC Williams High School this week, located at 3330 King Street, Alexandria,VA.  Be sure to arrive early to warm-up and stretch properly before the workout.

Coach Jerry's Workout

As I was biking in this morning I saw a familiar sight, two runners stopped at a traffic light who instead of waiting in one place for the light to change were bouncing on their toes to and fro.  Gang, please don't do the traffic light tango.  The minimal gain in fitness that you might receive from performing this peculiar dance step is far outweighed by the risk of hurting yourself.  Believe me, standing still at a traffic light for a few seconds every now and again will not compromise your goals, but getting injured surely will.

We're going to have a perfect night for running tomorrow, so I expect a huge crowd at TC as we continue to ramp up our training for the fall.  I know a lot of you are planning to run the race Thursday, but there's no reason you can't do a workout tomorrow and still race.  48 hours to recover is plenty, and if you feel like you want to do a little less than the rest of the group, talk to me before and we'll work something out.  The workout will be 2 x 1200, 2 x 800, 2 x 400, all with a 400 jog.  As always, if you have any questions, give me a holler.  See you out there tomorrow.

 Coach Jerry
