Issue: #2011-24June 13, 2011

Greetings NOVA Runners,

Track practice will be at its usual time, 6:30 P.M. at TC Williams High School.

Many of you gave us your preference as to our practice start time. Thus, we will continue to hold practice at 6:30 P.M., weather permitting. As you all know, TC Williams' track doesn't have shade to offer us when it's very hot making it more of an issue. If conditions are unsafe we will cancel practice or move the time up by a half hour.

We will be holding our second Cookie Run / Social Run this coming Friday the 17th of June at 6:30 P.M. We will be meeting at the Iwo Jima Memorial. From the memorial we will be heading into D.C. to a dirt trail. The run will be out and back stopping in Georgetown for refreshments at Georgetown Running Company store before returning to our cars. Please e-mail Mark or Samantha if you plan on coming.

See you out there,

Tuesday Track: 6:30PM,

This Tuesday, Track will be at 6:30PM at TC Williams High School this week, located at 3330 King Street, Alexandria,VA.  Be sure to arrive early to warm-up and stretch properly before the workout.

Coach Jerry's Workout

We had more excellent performance this weekend at the National Press Club 5k.  Laura O'Hara proved that she is back to fitness, and then some, running a very fast time for this stage of her training, and Kate Dart was right on her heels, and ran a PR.  Since the course was long, that PR is particularly impressive!  Jason Myers also ran a great race, finishing 4th in a very competitive field.  Unfortunately Jason was thwarted yet again in his attempt to break 16 minutes by another mismeasured course, but his fitness level is extremely high, and he will meet his goal soon.  Speaking of meeting goals, one of your last chances to run a competitive race this spring is on sunday at the GRC fathers day 8k.  Don't miss the fun!  http://www.fathersday8k.com/

We're going to have a very nice night tomorrow, so I expect a huge turnout. Because the weather will be cool, we can do some longer intervals.  The workout will be 2 x 1200, 2 x 800, 2 x 400, all with a 400 jog.  As always, if you have any questions, give me a holler.  See you out there tomorrow.
