Issue: #2011-22May 31, 2011

Greetings NOVA Runners,

Track practice will start today at 7pm.

Hope everyone enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend! It was a very nice weekend to enjoy the outdoors.

Weather should be rather hot Tuesday evening so be sure to hydrate adequately. To help with this please look at the attached link regarding hydration.

http://www.runtheplanet.com/trainingracing/nutrition/hydrationmistakes.asp

We are planning on doing a cookie run June 17th.  The run should entail a 4-5 mile run through DC.  Toward the end of the run we plan on stopping in Georgetown for drinks before heading back to our cars. Stay tuned for more info.

If you are still interested in participating the 2011 Marine Corps

Marathon, you can do so by running with a charity. The Red Cross still

has numbers if you are interested in running for a cause.  The benefits

are: a GUARANTEED 2011 Marine Corps Marathon slot, an online fundraising tool and coaching to reach the $1K fundraising goal, Free admission to our all-you-can eat carb-loading party at Primo Family Restaurant in Belle Haven Shopping Center, Alexandria VA, AaRun Team Red certificate suitable for framing.  Here is the link: www.redcrossnca.org.

See you out there,

Tuesday Track: 7:00PM, T.C. Williams H.S.

This Tuesday, Track will begin at 7:00PM at TC Williams High School this week, located at 3330 King Street, Alexandria,VA.  Note this this 30 minutes later than usual so the temperatures will be slightly cooler.  Be sure to arrive early to warm-up and stretch properly before the workout.

Coach Jerry's Workout

Gang, it's going to be hot out there tonight, and as a precaution we're going to start at 7 rather than 6:30.  When the sun gets lower in the sky the temperature drops quickly, so by waiting an extra 30 minutes, we'll allow ourselves to get in a light workout.  As always, safety is our top priority, so once again we're going to err on the side of caution and stick to 400s this week.  I had planned on longer intervals, but I'm not willing to take any chances, so we'll do 10 x 400 with a 200 jog.  Remember that it is critical that you are fully hydrated and that you bring water with you.  If you have any questions, give me a shout.  See you out there tonight.
