| Tuesday Track: 6:30PM Ft. Ward Park | |
This Tuesday, Track will be at 6:30PM at Fort Ward Park this week, located at 4301 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA 22304. The meeting area is toward the entrance of the park. Be sure to arrive early to warm-up and stretch properly before the workout.
*Note: Be sure to carefully read the newsletter over the next few weeks as this is the time of year when we have to begin juggling tracks due to varying school sports seasons.*

| Coach Jerry's Workout |
Gang, the racing season in here! The next 3 weeks feature 3 of the biggest spring races in our area, the National Marathon and Half Marathon, Cherry Blossom 10 Mile, and GW Parkway 10 Mile. I hope that NOVA will be well represented in these races. But never fear, the spring season goes on for several more weeks, so if you're not entered in any of these great events, you will have many more chances at glory!
This week we have a special treat, which is our return to Fort Ward Park. Based on the information we have now, this will be our only week at Fort Ward this spring, because it appears that we will have access to a track every other week, so take advantage of the opportunity to do some off-track training. The loop at Fort Ward closely replicates race day conditions, and I strongly encourage all of you to attend. The workout will be 5 x 1 loop, which is somewhere in the 900 meter range, with a 3 minute recovery. Times at Fort Ward are not equivalent to track times, so I'm happy to use an inexact distance so that you can run based on effort, not on the watch.
Finally, please be sure to pay your club dues. The dues are extremely low, much lower than most clubs, and it's well worth the investment in your fitness. As always, if you have any questions, give me a shout.
Coach Jerry
