Road Runners Club of America
Issue: #2011-6February 7, 2011

Greetings from your NOVA President,

Congratulations to Samantha Cole and Mark Drosky, elected to be NOVA's Co-Presidents for 2011!!   Please give them all the support they need to run NOVA for the rest of the year.

As a long time NOVA member, I am glad we have two new faces to lead the club.  It's important to get new ideas to support the running community and that can only happen when everyone steps forward.  Like any democracy, NOVA has a tradition of rotating the Presidency, and I am glad that tradition will continue.

Thanks to all of you who voted in the election.

As for me, thanks for letting me serve as NOVA's President for the last two years.  I'm just fading into the background for the first part of the year but I will remain an active NOVA member as long as I live in the DC area.

Please also congratulate the following NOVA Members who were elected or re-elected to NOVA Officer positions.

Amanda Williams - Vice-President

Jay Duffy - Treasurer

Faye Lafontaine - Secretary

Andresa Hart - Membership

Lynn Connors - Volunteer Coordinator

Track is back!  The snow has melted; track will return to Wakefield on Tuesday. I've also seen the schedule from the county and there are no conflicts for the track, so now is a good time to get a solid 4 weeks of Tuesday night workouts before we run into the usual conflicts with the spring High School sports schedule in March and April.

Looking ahead, join Metro Run & Walk Springfield for a private New Balance event on Sunday, March 12 at 10AM where you can try on the brand new New Balance Minimus and NB890 (lightweight trainer). See below for more information on the event.

Tuesday Track: Wakefield High School

Track is back!  The snow has melted; track will return to Wakefield on Tuesday. I've also seen the schedule from the county and there are no conflicts for the track, so now is a good time to get a solid 4 weeks of Tuesday night workouts before we run into the usual conflicts with the spring High School sports schedule in March and April.

Tuesday Track is held at 6:30PM at Wakefield High School in Arlington, VA.  The address is 4901 S Chesterfield Rd Arlington, Virginia 22206. Click here for directions. Be sure to arrive 10-15 minutes early so you have time to warm-up.

Coach Jerry's Workout
I was in San Diego this weekend for the USATF Cross Country championships, and it was my pleasure to see the ageless Richard Williams once again.  Dick should serve as an inspiration to us all!  While the weather tomorrow is not going to be quite as nice as it was in San Diego, the track should be clear and with any luck we'll be able to get back to work.  The spring racing season is going to be here soon, so I expect to see a packed house tomorrow.  The workout will be 6 x 800 with a 400 jog.  As always, if you have any questions, give me a holler.  See you out there.
