Issue: #3January 17, 2011

Greetings from your NOVA President,

Next week, NOVA will be conducting an on-line election for positions on the NOVA Board for 2011.  I will accept your nominations via e-mail for one week or until January 24, and then they will be added to an online ballot pending acceptance by the nominee.  The online voting will likely take place before the end of the month.  If you are interested or would like to nominate someone for one of the positions, send me or Amanda an e-mail.

As of Tuesday morning, the track session is still on.  Arlington County schools are opening two hours late so the track will be open.  With highs expected in the 40s today, the roads should be cleared up locally by noon.  Last week we conducted track in the sleet and ice and had a nice turnout so no reason to stop now!  If track should be cancelled I'll send a late afternoon e-mail so if you are coming be sure to check if the weather is suspect.

Be sure to read the results section to see who qualified for the Boston Marathon!

Tuesday Track Session Jan 11, 2011
Our track workout this week will begin promptly at 6:30PM at Wakefield High School, located at 4901 S. Chesterfield Road, Arlington, VA.  Be sure to arrive 10-15 min early to warm-up properly in this cold weather.
Coach Jerry's Workout
Gang, let's give a huge NOVA thumbs up to Grace Nomiyama for her outstanding effort in Phoenix.  From the start of her training, Grace's goal was to break 4 hours, and her training was geared specifically to that benchmark.  On race day, Grace executed the plan perfectly.  You can't do it any better than that.  Well done!

For tomorrow, it seems like the weather will be fine by the time we're ready to roll, and hopefully this week we'll have the bonus of actually being able to run on the track as opposed to the infield.  The workout will be 3 x mile with a 400 jog.  As always, if you have any questions, give me a holler.  See you out there.

Coach Jerry
