Road Runners Club of America
Issue: #46November 22, 2010

Greetings from your NOVA President,

Thanksgiving is nearly here and the entire region is taking advantage of the holiday by sponsoring an abundance of Turkey Trots including some this past weekend.  I hope all of you have a chance to complete in a local Turkey Trot and enjoy a nice post race Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends.

Teams are forming for the Jingle All the Way 10K on December 12.  If you are interested in running, let me or the Coach know.

I tracked down the local road race rankings sponsored by the Washington Running Report.  See the race results sections to find out how well NOVA Runners performed during the time period May 17, 2010 to September 8, 2010.  It takes a while to compile the list and I forgot to include it in previous additions of the newsletter.  Better late then never!

On December 12, head over to Betty Blank's house for her 26th Annual Christmas Party.  Activities start at 4 PM.  RSVP to Betty at ultimaterunner@verizon.net. See below for details...

Tuesday Track Session
Wakefield H.S., Tuesday, 6:30 PM

Come out and join us at Wakfield High School for our Tuesday track workout. Try to get there about 15 minutes early so you can warm up and stretch before we start.  Wakefield High School is located at 4901 S Chesterfield Rd Arlington, Virginia 22206.
Coach Jerry's Workout
The workout will be 10 x 400 with a 200 jog.  As a reminder, the 200 recovery means jogging the turn, and then coming back to the starting line.  It's real important to exercise care during the jog to make sure you're not impeding other runners.  I know a lot of you are racing on Thursday morning, and this workout is entirely consistent with race preparation, although those who are racing should consider stopping after 8 repeats.  As always, if you have questions about that specific issue, or anything else pertaining to your training, give me a holler.  See you out there.

Coach Jerry
Post-Track Pizza: Pizzaiolo's
