Greetings from your NOVA President,
The good news is that everyone showed up at the right location for our Tuesday Workout at Wakefield last week. Some nights we'll have the full effect from the Stadium lights while other nights, like last week, we'll have the lights from the tennis courts. As a friendly reminder, since we are new on the track, let's respect any non-NOVA runners who might not be used to seeing us out there.
This week, Drew Hansen of the Del Ray Patch Newspaper will be at track workout Tuesday night to meet club members and write about local runners. If you are a Del Ray resident or are running a certain Thanksgiving Day 5 Miler you might get your name in the next issue!
Thanks to the following volunteers who assisted Andresa Hart and the Capital Running Company in their roles as course marshals for the Veteran's Day 10K: Stephanie Wolf, Jay Duffy, Carlos Salas, Agatha Engel, Mike Hart, Dave Lambert, and Indrajit Das. The post race report noted that this was the largest very Veteran's Day 10K, so our NOVA course marshals earned their paychecks on this one!
If you missed volunteering on Sunday, no worries, because we'll do it again for the Jingle All the Way 10K, Sunday December 12. Standby for more details...
After volunteering on December 12, head over to Betty Blank's house for her 26th Annual Christmas Party. Activities start at 4 PM. RSVP to Betty at ultimaterunner@verizon.net. More details to follow...

| Coach Jerry's Workout | |
We had some other excellent performances this weekend, with nice PRs from Coast Guard Mike Naff and Brian Young. But the story of the weekend was David Wertz running an astounding 25:57 for 8k in Richmond on the day before he turned 35. Gang, I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am of Dave's progress in the last two years. By breaking 26 minutes, Dave has completed his transformation from an above average recreational runner into one of the top racers in the area. And now that Dave has turned 35, he is going to dominate his age group for years to come. Well done! For the workout tomorrow, we'll do 4 x 1200 with a 400 recovey. The forecast calls for the possibility of rain, but please don't let a few sprinkles keep you away from practice. If you have any questions, give me a holler. See you tomorrow.
Coach Jerry
