Greetings from your NOVA President,
Tomorrow we are returning to our Fall/Winter training grounds at Wakefield High School. We will start at 6:30 PM so be sure to get there 10 minutes early for a proper warm up. The Wakefield High School Track is located at 4901 S. Chesterfield Road, Arlington, VA. Wakefield High School
Don't forget we still need volunteers to support the Veteran's Day 10K, November 14. Supporting the race generates revenue for the club and helps pay for expenses such as insurance, the Coach, and club events. Please let Andresa know you are coming: ANDRESAH@iadb.org.
I hope everyone took a few minutes after the completion of your Sunday long run to watch the New York Marathon. Once again, the US runners performed at a high level as Shalane Flanagan was 2nd overall in her debut Marathon. Behind Shalane were 45,000 Marathoners including two NOVA members. See the results to see how they did!

| Coach Jerry's Workout | |
Congratulations to Lawyer Dave Kent and Ali Piacente for strong performances in the NY Marathon. And two thumbs up to Martha Merz and Jason Myers for excellent runs as they continue their comebacks from serious injuries. Well done!
Before we get to the workout for the week, I want to caution all of you about the need to be cautious now that we're into daylight savings. Gang, getting hit by a car when you're running in the dark is not a formula for improvement. It's essential that if you do your runs on the roads after work hours, you use great care to make sure drivers can see you. Any bike store will sell you a flasher for $10 that could prevent you from having a regretable run-in with a moving vehicle, and it's well worth the nominal investment. But more important than that, always assume a driver does not see you, no matter how many flashers or reflectors you're wearing, and conduct yourself accordingly. In a game of a chicken between a runner and a car, the car is going to win every time. As for the workout, we'll do 4 x 800, 4 x 400, all with a 400 jog. As always, if you have any questions, give me a holler. See you out there tomorrow.
Coach Jerry
